What does ASP have more than PHP ?

What does ASP have more than PHP ?

AFAIK the greates difference between asp and php is the database-part. asp likes only access-databases, but php only like database-servers and not database-files (like the access-ones).
and then there are only some little differences, but ASP is a little bit more unsecure than PHP.

ASP can be used with ANY database server. That includes MYSQL.. bla bla bla. If you use the ADO control. Very easy!

Yeah I know about C#...

remember my little slogan about Microsoft : "Micro$oft never creates: it always steals !"

btw Bytefish do you know Smalltalk ? Java is deeply inspired from this language and is not as power than this language which was created 20 years ago and that is a 100% object language. (This language was also used for Artificial Intelligence programming).

Personnally I never used it neither Java in fact. But there is some people still resisting on the internet who are still programming in Smalltalk.

So Simon why do you absolutely want to use ASP since PHP seems to be better (except for the database thing but MySQL isn't so bad) ?

2072, you embody in a perfect way the "MAC man" ! I know that mac are pretty better than windows in some accurate things but microsoft is pretty good ! Even if their products sometimes looks like to mac, it's not worth pulling them down ! So, I'd say that they aren't really thieves, like you ain't a thief, even if it's true to say that they're generous and kind-hearted !

hey i'm a Mac Man !
I've 2 Imac
and I also think Microsoft steals....
The problem is that Microsoft stealed everythink for Apple since Windows 1
A little note, while Microsoft was with Ms-Dos 3, Aplle was with his first 68k Mac with Mouse and Graphic interface...
And 2 years later, Microsoft made Windows with strangly the same interface
What Strange :o

I'll let you conclude... ;)

Ur right about the history of windows, and that microsoft "steals"...

Anyway, mac didn't pull it off comersially, microsoft did... they brought the pc to the home user, and it's thanks to them it's as avaliable as it is today.

They might not have had the original ideas, but they had a greater vision of what computeres would be like, and evolved a huge marketing machine :)

They won basically, fair or not...

... and then, one day, came <{GNULINUX}>...

Smalltalk... yea heard of it... never took a closer look at...

but 2072... you have to know about Brainfuck.
It is a very small programming language with 8 statements at the moment, and you can theoretically do everything with it.
I dont remember the link now (maybe brainfuck.org or something), maybe you know it. :)

Well this little language seems to well wear its name

But if you love object programming you should take a look to Smalltalk which is faster than Java (this is bytecode too).

from where do you have the drugs???

microsoft where thives from their first hour (real! they've stolen DOS from a company in Seattle and they've sold it to IBM as MS-DOS) and they will be thieves till their end. (the end is near! only 10years and microsoft will be nothing!)

Yeah micro$oft buisiness isn't so well, they are loosing money everywhere except on windows (I heard recently that they are making more than 80% of profit on each copy of a windows version they sell). So if ever Windows comes to disappear, it's the death of micro$oft !
