Second, let me ask for your help:
Yesterday I decided to implement the guide on these forums to "upgrade" my FX 1.0 Plus to AFX 2.0; I did every step, everything worked fine, but after transfering the system file with FlashCOM, I noticed that everytime I tried to receive a file, I got an error message ("Receive ERROR", in the calculator).
I attempted a reset, it cleared the CAS, Algebra and TUTOR icons from the menu, but the problem persists...
I am a newb and have no idea of what to do Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance

I tried a system file, I tried "Physium" from Casio's official website and I tried uploading the system from the calc; It all failed:( Ah, and not only it fails with FlashCOM but also with CASIO Add-in instaler:(
It's a desperate situation...

if you bought one, is it an 'offical' one of the MAX232 circuit?

Can it be a cable problem even thought I managed to transfer files once?
Once again, thanks for helping me

which serial port are you using? some peoples cables only work on COM1
is the cable properly plugged in at both ends?

I think the signal is getting into the calculator, but it is somehow "refusing" it... I don't know how that's possible, though
This is troublesome, specially since I don't have the 120? to buy a new calc at the moment... hope this new information helps

do you have Hyper Terminal Installed?
( Start - All Programs - Accessories - Communication - Hyper Terminal )

START >> PROGRAMS >> ACCESSORIES >> COMMUNICATIONS >> HYPER TERMAINAL
if it is not there than grab you windows cd and install it!
loadup hyperterminal and a new connection dialogue box should appear, if it does not the click on FILE >> NEW CONNECTION
1. give the connection a name e.g. CASIOTEST
2. select an icon
3. in the connect to dialogue box find the drop down menu labeled CONNECT USING and select the comm port you have attached the PCB to (usually comm 1, unless your mouse is plugged in there)
4. Press OK
5. select the following Values in the COM1 PROPERTIES box:
* Bits Per Second: 9600
* Data Bits: 8
* Parity: none
* Stop Bit: 2
* Flow Control: none
6. try typing somthing, nothing should appear, if it does check your circuit again
7. now connect the TIP and MIDDLE of the 2.5mm jack plug together
8. try typing somthing again, if what appears on screen is what you typed the you have successfuly sent and recived data.

I put one of the leads in the top and the other in the middle, typed some text and nothing apperead on the screen; furthermore, the multimeter reported no flow of current; it did report it when I connected the bottom part with the tip of the 2.5 mm jack plug, 4.33 Volts, but no text showed up on screen.
Does this mean my cable's toast? If so I can return it, I bought it recently...

I guess it's time to get a new cable then... Thanks for your precious help
By the way, any advice on how to prevent my cable from frying next time? 'cause I only used it two or three times...
