I'm an engineering student and I want to buy a calculator. After doing much research on the internet I opted going for a casio calculator over a TI (mainly due to the huge price differences  ) . But I failed to find any direct comparisons between the calculators mentioned in the title. (Casio FX-9750GII, FX-9860G, FX-9860GII). Here are the price differences between them

FX-9750GII - $47.99
FX-9860G - $65.99
FX-9860GII - $73.99

Being a student I'm on a tight budget and would like to know the differences between the FX-9750GII and the FX-9860G.

Also is it worth it to spend 8$ more to get the FX-9860GII over the FX-9860G ?

(I was quite attached to my old trusty FX991MS and didnt want to upgrade to a graphing calculator. But this time I left it back home 3000 miles away when I came to uni !!! :banghead: and now I think it is time for a upgrade.)

Any advice would be much appreciated. :)

Hi,
Here is a manual for all OS 2.00 calculators: http://support.casio...0GII_Soft_E.pdf
fx-9750GII and fx-7400GII (not yet released) are both based on OS 2.00, that is to say both share almost all the benefits of the fx-9860G(II) series - unlike the fx-9750GA PLUS. However, the fx-9750GII does not come with applications like eActivity and Spreadsheet and is NOT add-in capable. So you can't install Physium or Geometry afterwards. The fx-9860GII is like the fx-9860G but has a more modern design and is equipped with a backlight display. Unlike OS 2.00 for the fx-9860G, the GII OS 2.00 has additional natural input improvements. Fortunately, it is possible to install an unofficial GII mod on older devices: http://www.casiocalc...=...ost&p=47402

Just have a look at the manual. It explains a lot about the differences between each model. :)

thanx a lot !!! I got the 9860GII. Just thought I'd need it in the future since I'm an engineering student.
