Is anyone here developing a graphic converter for the CG10? Casio has one and comments in other sites claimed it was going to be released "soon", perhaps by the time schools started, but schools are back and we can't trust them to release anything since there has been an "official" one for months and they have not released it. I see they have a web page to request it but so far it seems to be for teachers only. I am an engineer and want access to a function I paid for (CASIO is really close to false advertising here "put your pictures in your calculator") and I like the CG10. TI went with standard jpeg in their nspire without much fuzz.

Casio did indeed release their conversion tool, only allowing teachers to download it. Furthermore, that program cannot convert images so that they are compatible with the fx-CG10 - only with the fx-CG20 and Manager Plus. All of this is probably due to restrictions related to tests, but I really wonder why TI got away with making all Nspires support custom images and allowing everyone to convert them. (They are not plain JPEG/GIF/PNG files, however. The Computer Software converts them into a proprietary format.) There are a few people who are working on documenting the image format so that an open source converter can be created, but I do not know if it's going to be finished soon.

:banghead:

Sad news. But people can get their own stuff into the nspire. I think Casio should reconsider this. At least release the necessary info to the public and get someone besides them to write the converter. This way they can avoid whatever flak they think they'll get from those annoying education "authorities".

You never know what kinds of things those education authorities will do... They're doing a lot of things behind the scenes that they won't tell us about, forcing calc makers to comply. They're the ones who are preventing innovation.

I too bought the calculator on the assumption I could use my own pics on it.I am an engineer and have sheet metal development programs which I use for work, I wanted to add my own diagrams, which I have in jpeg format, to use alongside the programs.Casio should realize that calculators are not solely used in education, but also in industry and the outside world, I feel they are limiting their products by their actions (or lack of)Anyway, it seems I will be denied access to the converter software, as I am not a teacher.I read somewhere on here that the device should still be able to display pictures ( hopefully in jpeg or bitmap format) within programs. I already have the picture files saved on the calculator, I just need a means of accessing or displaying them, within a program. If anyone can advise on code needed to display a picture within a basic program , it would be much appreciated

Sadly, the ability to display images that are not in Casio's proprietary format is limited to add-ins, so you can do it in assembly or C, but not BASIC.
