    fx-991ms

Hi all,

Not sure if this is the right place for this kind of question, but I've just bought a Fx-991MS and noticed a possible bug when storing a value to memory that has been a result of using the Ans memory.

When 'ans' is part of the calculation, repeatedly pressing the = button repeats the function.

Eg I type

2 =

Then type

2+Ans

And I get 4, as you'd expect. If I press the = button more times, the calculator repeats the function by adding 2 each time, so the answer will be 4, 6, 8, 10 etc.

However If I try to store one of the answers to memory, the calculator repeats the function one more time before storing it.

Eg I type:

2 =

Ans + 2 =

(shift STO) A

And the value stored in memory A is 6, not 4.

Am i doing something wrong, or if this is a bug what is the best workaround?

Thanks

Jon

I have HP 10s+ which is similar to fx-991ms and I confirm this strange behavior.
I used also fx-991es plus and the result was 4, which is correct.
It seems further computing step is executed before storing the result
The correst result I obtained if:
2=
Ans+2 (don't press =)
shift sto a

Yes, I ended up getting a 991ES to replace mine. Casio rep says it seems to be a thing with the MS variants. The other easy work around is to press the Ans key once before storing to memory, and it lets you see the result before storing to memory. Like this:

2=
Ans+2 =

Ans
shift sto a

Gives you 4 in memory A as it should.

I didn't want to forget to do this in an exam though and have it catch me out so worth getting a new calc for me.
