The History of the UCF
A summary about the Universal Casio Forum
As we are constantly getting new members in the UCF, I thought it would be interesting for them to get to know how it came to our community and especially how it came to the forum.

Therefore I found the old thread from the Casio Fan Forum (which was provided by Jean-Luc Vanier, webmaster of the casio-programs-avenue), where the UCF was invented. Below you will find this complete thread, because I think it's quite interesting, entertaining and even funny.

I have a dream...

One forum... (by Bytefish Prod. Tue, Jan 30, 2001)

What do you think about one big forum for all casio sites? Every casio site has its own forum, but one big, much visited forum would be better as my opinion. Much more visitors would come to one big ,for all casio sites forum. I know it's hard to make but at my opinion it would be better.
Cu Philipp.

Re: One forum... (by Simon Dobretsov Tue, Jan 30, 2001)

Well.. I can put one up easily "Ultimate Bulletin Board".. and it will run fine, but how are you going to get all the other sites to agree using it??

Re: One forum... (by Bytefish Prod. Wed, Jan 31, 2001)

Well i just thought it would be wonderful, one big forum.

Re: One forum... (by GP Productions Wed, Jan 31, 2001)

I think that such forum would be a good idea.
Although I don't get much visitors on my site, I would replace my current forum with that big forum.
That's already one site ;-)

Now.. if all the other webmasters that visit this form can reply with a simple yes or no to this message... then I might make that forum!!!

By the way.. if I make it.. all the webmasters will receive Moderator and Admin access!

Re: One forum... >> TO CPA WEBMASTER ALSO
(by Simon Dobretsov Thu, Feb 01, 2001)

Ok people.. it's open.. the url is:

We already have 3 sites that joined, and there is still room for MORE!! I am also still waiting a reply from the CPA webmaster (hopefully he will join also)

Re: One forum... >> TO CPA WEBMASTER ALSO
(by ZaboWabo Fri, Feb 02, 2001)

It's a space hog, creating .html pages for each post (wtf), the only good thing about thgis, is that the posts can then be indexed by search engines.
Even removing the Infopop logo on the full or trial version will result in them getting really, really pissed (if you know Infopop, you'll know what they'll do).
The board has a slow rendering time compared to most.
Infopop is just evil in general "users with the light version may no longer modify the code, or customize it in any way" <---WTF.

Ah well...

Re: One forum. (by: Simon Dobretsov Fri, Feb 02, 2001)

Well.. I have enough space on my server and I like it how it is right now.. And I can edit the CGI (and have done so)
So.. I don't really understand your dislike to the forum that I created!

Re: One forum. (by ZaboWabo Sat, Feb 03, 2001)

It's nothing specific to your forum, it's good...it's UBB that should, uh...be shot...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

...that one day...
Maybe I should leave all this uncommented, but I summarize it: Philipp from his own little firm "Bytefish Prod." had the idea of the forum and it was Simon "Simprobe" Dobretsov who made it at the beginning of February 2001.

It had a good start and many sites joined this first version of the UCF, including CasioCorner, Casio Elite, The Casio Graph Site and many more. Than, after 4 months of chatting, discussing, inventing and joking, on the 4th of June, the new version of the UCF went online.

...every casio site joins the international UCF.
As CPA joined the UCF shortly after the new version was released, most of the well known sites have now a link to the UCF and thus are promoting our Casio Community.

Still, there are pages, mostly french ones, that did not link the UCF. There is the main problem, that not all people are able to speak english so good, and therefore need a forum where their own language is spoken. We at the UCF hope that the new "non-english section" will help them!
