I just received my Classpad and as soon as I put in the batteries and started it up, the screen was all messed up. There are 'strips' that run up and down and makes viewing the screen very difficult.

Does anyone know what I should do?

Thanks for helping Crimson,

I just tried it and the display shows more this time but the battery indicator is not completely showing. Also when I hit keyboard button or any do anything else the screen gets messed up again.

How about BiTwhise's suggestion to me:

Place your classpad gently on the table.
Move your feet apart about the same distance as the width of your shoulders.
Grab the stylus, and hold it firmly with both hands, and the tip pointing down.
Extend your arms fully.
Position you (or the classpad) such that the stylus touches the center of the screen, still with your arms fully extended.
Now, rais your arms above your head.
Take a deep breath, and hold it for 5 secconds.
SMASH your stylus down with all your power, exhaling and screaming like a madman.
Call tech support, and tell them you have problem with an unfunctional classpad.

It seems as though the classpad was dropped but there no sign of damage.

I hope I don't have to return it

i'll see if casio has any idea (they told me they had a tric that might fix qwerty's problem, it might work for you).

oh, in the mean time try initializing the memory.

Thanks Crimson,

I've tried initializing( a few times), resetting but it seems to be a serious LCD and/or microchip problem. I really think its a faulty component and one that will most likely need replacing.

No matter what I do the it keeps showing a couple of black strips running vertically and and a couple of strips that run vertically as well but is blank in the strip.

With mine it was the same problem. (thin/pale vertical stripes over the entire screen.) but now it works without problems.

i did the following (resetting don't help)
Put the batteries in (maybe buy some new)
turn on (if it not automaticly to it)
turn off
take the batts out
turn on !!! this will reset the memory too (hold the on/off key 2-3 sec.)
wait about a day.

(then it worked.)

if this not helps you may have to send it in (and hope an other firm will carry it to you)

Thanx mkanter,

I've tried that but the lines still show up.
The more I read the topics in this forum the more I suspect that it might be a bug or OS problem. So, I'm going to try to upgrade the OS.

Please keep any advice or suggestions coming because I doubt that I will have the problem fixed anytime soon.
