Hi guys. I'm a frustrated newbie who really has been reading the manual. But there are some very simple things I can't seem to figure out to do.

For example, if I want to find out that the sqrt(2) is 1.4142135... How do I do it? I can only get my results to remain in symbolic/algebraic form. Is there a menu option somewhere or a mode to get the numeric answer? I've tried everything I can think of.

Sorry to ask such a basic question, but it's important to me that an advanced calculator does the easy, everyday things fast and simple.

As a PS, has anyone managed to write assembly code for the CP? I know it's not as open as the TI...

in the menu settings : basic format : turn on decimal calculation to have the numeric answers for all operations until you turn it off

to convert only the last answer in the other (unactive) format : clic on the first icon (0.5 <-> 1/2) then exe

Thank you very much for the help. At first I could figure out which icon you meant, but now I see it up there in the upper left and everything works great!
Looks like there may be quite a learning curve on this baby. :)

You know, here's a great suggestion from us Newbies for future classpads.
Since there's no way to "hover" with a stylus, it would be great to add a HELP button such that if you hold the help button and tap on any button or icon, you get a description of what that button does. The help could even appear in its own mini window.

Having a built in help would really be worth a lot in terms of getting people into the CP300 features, and since the CP300 already has more memory than any other calculator, they can afford better help than anyone else.
