In this case, you are probably right, but, in general, implementing a "differential equation grapher" is not necessarily a wasting of time. First, judging from the sceenshots, one can create better plots than those of OS 3.0. Second, it seems that OS3.0 vector fields are restricted to simple cases: one differential equation of the 1st order (as in vanhoa's implementation).

LNA's plots of vector fields (in version 1.70) look better than OS3.0's, and they are not restircted to one differential equation ;).

I have the OS 3 and its differential equation grapher can draw plots for several differential equations. :)

(don't ask me to share the OS, I can't because it requires CPManager and an install code)

Just wait a little more, and hope they will release a free version, independant of the CPManager.

First, shame on you! You have paid money for OS3. Second, I doubt that OS3 vector fields are more flexible than LNA's. Just wait a few days, and you will see for yourself. ;)

I'm not asking you to share the new OS. Of course, if it will be released for free, I will download it; if not, I'm simply not interested. With or without OS3, I will always need to use CPLua to write more powerful functions.

Of course :) In fact, I'm rather disappointed by the OS3, it still has some bugs, and I also found a few mistakes in French translations !

There is something that would be really good a year ago: it's the fact that you can run Basic programs from Main and eActivities, but now, who is interested in Basic? :plol:

How you got it and how many you paid?

How much I paid ?

... 0 :)

Are you sure the screenshots represent direction field for abs(sin(x))^x? In your implementation there are no axes labels, but screenshot 3 shows that the plotting interval is from x=-7.8 to x=7.8. However, I doubt this is correct; LNA 1.7 gives a different direction field, which is correct (I checked the result with Scilab). I think there is an error in your code.

I just tried the differential equation graphs in OS 3.0 (don't ask how I got it, but I didn't pay for it ;) ). You can graph any order diffeq and it's fast. It will graph slope fields, direction fields, and solution curves. It has a really nice trace function too.

BTW vanhoa, why did you steal buttons from the OS 3.0 Differential Equation Grapher toolbar? Do you want yours to look exactly like OS 3.0? When I look at your screenshot it is hard to tell if it is really your add-in or OS 3.0. I think this is just silly.

Really, :P , I dont think the button is a big deal, but I'm not good at drawing so I must "stole" the buttons :( .
