There's also the issue of cron jobs and such, where your computer does stuff like updates, virus scans, and long downloads while you're alseep. This helps keep your computer's speed up when you're actually using it (not to mention that *nix computers can snafu if you don't let them run those midnight cron jobs).

Hi there! I signed up quite some time ago, but never got around to making an introductory post (or any post for that matter). Well, here I am.

For the most part I'm actually a TI calculator programmer. My biggest (completed) project so far was probably the game of Fruit Ninja for the TI-83/84 Plus family. I own one Casio PRIZM (CG-10) and have been meaning to get into C programming for it, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Maybe coming on here will motivate me :)

My name is Raw SteeL, and I was born some day in the last century which means I'm between 0 and 100 years old (give or take). Interests are astronomy and scientific exploration, and so my hobbies tend to be around the writing of articles in mainly sociological subjects (haven't really delved into mathematics or programming yet...).

My username is actually kind of old, since it stems from one of the teams on Unreal Tournament '99, one of the BEST. GAMES. EVER.

Hi, i've just joined.

Recently I've started new hobby, a programming with fx-5800P. It's really fun because of its limited hardware and Casio Basic capabilities. I should say great things of the current Casio BASIC installed in recent models is Getkey and Locate commands which gives flexibility in programming.

Hi, flyingfisch

very glad to have your comment.

Well, let me try introducing "Whack-A Mole".

Sorry for the large size image.

Now I'm wandering how to write its program code here because some special characters are used for the fx-5800P. If you or other people are interested in the code, I would write or upload, but sorry I don't have good idea for this.

At first I doubted about capability of fx-5800P which can run such action game, but finally it's a sort of fun, really surprising even to me! The mole appears randomly every tens or hundreds of mili-second.

<< Game Title & Starting Manu >>
Posted Image

Normal mode: O shows mole!
Posted Image

To hit the mole, use ten keys, 1 to 9.

You get 7 LIFEs at starting and lose LIFE when your reaction is slow, mole shakes or you hit wrong position.

After getting 200 PRIZE or more, fake mode is invoked. There are 2 fake modes, 1) one fake mole appears or 2) both real and fake mole appear at the almost same time. The normal mode also runs with the 2 fake modes.

The fake mole is numeric 0 (zero).
