Seems as if they are basically porting the fx-CP400 3D graphing functionality.
I did not read anything regarding touch, so this is nothing like the HP Prime.

It is good to see that they create new models.
I'm waiting for a fx-9860GIII, with 116MHz, the same pixel density as the ClassWiz models, CAS, and a new SDK. But they won't make it.
Casio calculators reached its glory in 90's and early 2000's with the CFX and AFX series, and the first classpad.
With the GII, SH4-A models that are poorly supported by the SDK, and the classpad 400, now the casio calculators are in decadence.
Thanks for the announcement!

Sure, the fx-CG50 is only an intermediate model.
The GII models are already starting to be phased out:

Also, on some other website I told that SuperH is no longer actively developed:

So Casio has to do something between 2018 to 2020. Most likely they will switch to the Renesas RZ series for new calculators which is basically an ARM processor design. This requires a lot of hardware and software changes.
And I suppose that even the low-end models will get color displays but maybe only supporting 8-bit colors. I don't know their contract details with Toshiba but the custom T6K73 LCD controller was first(*) used in 2008 in the fx-9750GA Plus and is still being used unmodified in their fx-7400GII/9750GII/9860GII and their new 2015 Graph 25/35/75 exam mode calculators. I don't think Toshiba is going to continue production of this chip beyond 2020.
* The smaller T6K73 chip revision B (the larger one was used in the fx-9860G in 2005)

I would give one of my kidneys for a tiny 9860GIII with the same size as the 991ex.
