I believe my AFX 2.0's problem is in the flash memory (i wanna test my theory) but, will AFX 2.0 work without the flash chip?
<_< (if not, i'd better start looking for a new chip, before attempting to remove the probably damages flash chip)

i think no. because the casio is nearly a computer. i think you would get an error at starting. some build-in programs of casio use the flash chip. i think it wouldn't be so difficult to find such a chip.

technically no
Because the flash is used by the startup & the menu
Every move into the menu reads in the flash, every program launched reads in the flash
all this bacause command.com and the driver are in the flash 1st segment
Also the menu icones are in this segment

unfortunately that confirms my theory: the problem is in my calc's flash.
So i really have to get a new chip!

if you want to buy a new chip then search at www.google.com for the Chip-Manufacturer and Chip-Type. In most of the cases you will find a distributor or a shop where you can buy such a chip.

bye

As a last resort, you might be able to use a ROM chip or incompatable flash chip with the right contents for the system segment, and the calc should at least boot and let you do non-flash stuff. Installing extra programs gets difficult at that point though...
