special characters 9850 or AFX

Hey, does anyone know how to get more special characters to be used in BASIC programs on the CFX-9850 or the AFX? I know there are a lot of the simple ones out like the @ sign, the $ sign and the & symbol, but I usually have touche on my calc with its list of symbols that the calculator can do. Any way to gain access to them for basic use?
I've gotten some of the symbols named above using the FA-123 and inputing the @ symbol and numbers or letters following it (corresponding to a hex address I believe), but not all the symbols can be gained this way (at least not that I've found), so I was wondering if anyone had found anything on it or could point me to some directory.
I'm also curious why some characters can be found this way, but others cannot. Anyone know? The symbols I'm looking for specifically are the arrows pointing in the up, down, left, and right directions (any of the versions of those).

Well in fact we can say that the AFX (at least) have three different ascii tables the two last are available by printing the chars 0xF6 or 0xF7 and another character (that is what displays TOUCHE). But the problem is that the different syntax entities and functions (like If Then, Else, Goto, Locate, Stop, etc...) are represented by 1 or more asccii characters so there will be symbols that you will never be able to display from basic since it will think it's a command...

anyone know of a listing of what symbols can be used in BASIC and what code I can input to get them? I imagine someone out there has searched the calc for what symbols will appear.

at the 9850 there are two ascii table. you can't see them without modification of the ROM.
you can only use other symbols, when you transfer the program to the computer, insert the symbols and then transfer the program back.
or you put the special characters into a f-mem. transfer a program with special characters to the calculator and then store the data into one or more F-mems.

Well read my first answer to your post.

I believe this has been discussed over and over again, with someone concluding with a full list of the 256 ASCII characters! If it's not on that list, your calculator can't display them as one byte can only hold 256 different symbols (although there are 2 byte symbols... ).

Using FA-123, you can only get about 137 one character symbols for Casio 9850. Use the Special Matrix function to view all the symbols your calculator can display.

However, you say their are two ascii tables and I have seen some characters. Has anyone managed to get anything better than Chinese (tall) commas, the | symbol and opening quotation marks?

I've found a couple interesting symbols as I've kinda guessed my way through it using fa-123 and uploading to the calc. Some things like the underscore "_" and a dollar sign, and the "%" sign, and some others that I really don't know what they are. I've even found that the calc translated some of them into actual commands that can be entered into from the Program section of that calc. I was just wondering if anyone had a listing of all that were accessible in this way.
