I downloaded and installed the v2.20. Other than the bold font option (which helps the screen visibility a bit) what else is new?

Thanks in advance.

Tony.

I don't see how the links you posted answer my question. The second link is for getting a demo version of the software to run your PC, while the first includes only instructions on how to perform the upgrade (which are available by the upgrade EXE, anyway) but not what the upgade includes.

The only noticable difference is the bolder font. OS 2.2 has the normal font as well as the newer, bolder font. This help the readability of the display on low light conditions.

I'm sure there are also a few minor bugfixes and slight speed improvements. Try out the matrix functions. I think the speed might have improved for large matrices.

NOTE: For really large matrices "exact" mode (i.e. not decimal mode) can be slow. One way to force calculation to floating point is to use the "approx" function.

Hi.
The "system" in Main Memory tab in System app change from 7 to 5 KB. I also try some calculations that ClassPad was unable to perform, and now, there are no changes (at least some of my problems), integration calculation is slow, and so is solving trigonometric equation (try solve(sin(x)=cos(x)), ver2.20 takes 7.5 sec, while ver1.00 did it very fast).

I found that while running "OS update" on computer, then, if you access ..../Casio/ClassPad OS update, you can find some information about the files which will be installed to the ClassPad. There is much more changes in this folder than any version before. The CPOSDATA decreases its size (3.818KB to 3.771KB), osuplib.dll increases the size (357KB to 385KB) and very new (in OS 2.00, it was modified years before).

I think there should be "OS installer" for ClassPad. You may notice that the files which are transfered into the ClassPad are not 11.6 MB (the larger files are audio files which show you setp by step install new OS to your ClassPad, we don't need that since we have done this work several times. Therefore, when there is new CP OS Update, we only need actual files which will be transfered to the ClassPad. This will save so much time instead of waiting for a slow modem downloading such a large file.

The manual for OS 2.20 can be downloaded at
http://ftp.casio.co....0ver022_Eng.pdf
It has 753 pages, compared to 673 pages that the manual for OS 2.00 had. The obvious differences is that the new manual has the "Verify" command documented, as well as the Spreadsheet. This makes 71 pages, so there are 9 more pages than the previous manual, which are not related to the "Verify" command or the Spreadsheet. I'm trying to figure out if there is something new or not. It is a shame that Casio didn't published a "What's new" document.

You can also download the manual for CP Manager 2.2 at:
http://ftp.casio.co....rver022_Eng.pdf
but there is no such a version of CP Manager available to download!

In both manuals, you will see at the first page that Casio treats CP 300+ and OS 2.2 as the same thing. I assume that the only difference is the display.

I believe the buffer overflow bug that was found based on reports from OmegaVirus (sorry if I got the name wrong) in the Program application was fixed for v2.20.

Dear friends, I have found out that the changes in OS version 2.20 are not so few! For example, the good old basic font from OS version 2.00 (and older), both basic and bold layout, has been completely redesigned!
Moreover, the eActivity saves the files in a slightly different file system - the file sizes are the same, but the header information is slightly different! And that is not all new from the OS version 2.20! See you soon! Bye!

Dear friends [...] See you soon! Bye!

Okay, I'm not surprised.

For example, the good old basic font from OS version 2.00 (and older), both basic and bold layout, has been completely redesigned!

Only the Th?ta has changed, no? I need some screenshots to verify that...

Moreover, the eActivity saves the files in a slightly different file system - the file sizes are the same, but the header information is slightly different!

But it is still too slow...

I am very surprised... It's the first time you say good things about the OS. ...and I wonder you are not ironic (as you use to be... :nonono: )

As:

I have managed to add Grad support to the ClassPad, just wait for a week or two!
The programming contest has almost come to its end, then you will enjoy... :roflol:

or:

I have started constructing an add-in that will feature playing of video clips with background sound! I think that a new section of casiocalc.org downloads page will have to be added in the future! Just wait for some months to see what I am planning to release! Have a nice time...

I am sometimes wondering if you are not a bit ... crazy

Dear Kilburn, about the beginning and ending of my messages, please just consider this: before you send an e-mail, you have to type the e-mail address. Before you log-in, you have to type the password. Before you send a letter, you have to write the address on the envelope. That is only my form of conversation and it REALLY does not mean anything more than that. By the way, I am in a very good mood lately, so that no event can make me go crazy now. About the second issue, I shall reveal one secret about me: I am such an perfectionist, that when I type an eActivity or Program I manage the text to fix PERFECTLY (up to the last available pixel) in the appropriate windows. When I lately opened my old eActivities, I was very sad to see that all my work has gone... However, no single character has been made wider. However, many of them (both in the regular and the basic layout) have been shrinked. I discovered the different file system of the eActivity when I compressed the two identical *.fls (same eActivities, same file size in bytes) into a solid WinRAR archive. They differed in more than 500 bytes compressed, which is about 1 Kbytes uncompressed! If you do the same with a file and its carbon copy, WinRAR will use only ten bytes fot the copy to save its file name. The Grad support for the ClassPad is in the contest archive - just open the library folder and use the Gradians and gradians variables as multipliers for the values that have to be converted. Yes, you are right, I am pretty ironic sometimes, but I try to tell the truth always about all the ClassPad issues. And you must agree that we the ClassPad advanced users are all a bit crazy - would a normal man use his free time to work on a calculator? However, here is another piece of news: I have got a girlfriend, which means that I shall reduce my ClassPad working time up to the minimum (just keeping track what is going on lately). Do you agree that it is better to kiss a girlfriend who loves you, than to be fooled by almost anybody here? Bye!

I have to admit that you do have an eye for details. ;)
Did you change your font back to the normal (not bold) font? You can change the font back to the older style using the System Application. There is a button in the toolbar.

The Grad support for the ClassPad is in the contest archive - just open the library folder and use the Gradians and gradians variables as multipliers for the values that have to be converted.

I have a feeling user's won't need a special program for Grad support in the next major release of the OS. ;)

However, here is another piece of news: I have got a girlfriend, which means that I shall reduce my ClassPad working time up to the minimum (just keeping track what is going on lately). Yes, a girlfriend requires a lot of time and attention, but it is well worth it. :D

Why so much people are asking for grad support? It's a simple transformation.

...we the ClassPad advanced users...

Yeeeaaah! :roflol: :roflol: :roflol:
