Has anyone ever tried to use the CP Manager on a 64-bit computer? It turns out that installation is not a trivial task: I installed CP Manager 2 (trial version) in Window$ x64. After that, I tried to connect my ClassPad; I have followed the instructions in CP Manager documentation, but Window$ cannot find an appropriate driver (it says "the driver is not designed for Window$ XP x64" or something like that).
Note that all driver files are installed by CP Manager's installation program: the driver is named CESG502.SYS and is located at C:\Window$\system32; the corresponding INF and PNF files are located at C:\Window$\inf. Nevertheless, "automatic search for drivers" fails .

To be honest, I'm not surprised. In general, nothing works as expected in Window$ 64-bit.

Yes, there's a problem similar to that for the fx-9860 since it also uses the same USB driver: CESG502. codemaster's solution for the fx-9860 USB's driver running on Windows Vista can be found here the fourth post down: http://casiokingdom....F...topic&t=285. Maybe this could help you out. It seems the two most important things are steps 2 and 3 (after uninstalling the CP Manager):

2) Right click on the setup.exe file in the download and click properties and set to "Windows XP SP2 compadibility Mode".

3) Right click on the same file and "Run as Administrator".

And then after installation, it seems you then would have to apply the same thing to the ClassPad manager executable itself.

Thank you for the tip, but it doesn't work. I was expecting that, because the trick is obviously for Vista 32-bit, not for XP x64.

I know, I know, but I need a 64-bit OS... I'm not even thinking to ask Casio for a XP x64 driver, because I know the answer in advance: "Dear customer, blah, blah, blah, we don't have such a driver and of course we are not supporting our product at all". :banghead:

Needless to say that Debian <{GNULINUX}> 4 64-bit works without problems (except that there is no Java plugin, because Sun ignores 64-bit users, just like Casio). I'm now looking for a calculator with full <{GNULINUX}> support (I hope it exists).

Apologies for resurrecting this.
I have the same problem, and can't seem to be able to find 64bit drivers (I run a 64bit OS for computation and development purposes).

I'm a bit keen to start doing a bit of Classpad development on my spare time, so this was really annoying me.
My solution was to install 32bit Windows XP under a small VMWare image. Not too intrusive, not as much hassle as dual booting, and seems to work fine (after you tell your host OS to ignore any further connection of your classpad and stop searching for drivers).

You'll need the following:

VMWare Player.
A VMWare machine image, which you can create here.
A copy of an OS (Windows XP in my case), which you can get from your local sysadmin ;)
Possibly the <{GNULINUX}> tarball of VMWare Worstation (for extracting a VMTools ISO). Further description here. I needed this to get networking running.

Hi all,

Long time no post!

Anyway, I've now got Vista 64 bit O.S. and this stupid FA-CP 1.2 won't install, neither will O.S. 3.04

I've tried to run both in compatibility mode with no success.

Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Peace out

you can install Virtual PC, then WinXP on it, and then see if you can com with your calc with that.

I have VMWare on a ubuntu machine, i'll test if i can plug the calc there too

Well try installing windows 7 x84 (32 bit) version on your PC, I've downloaded the image file but havent bought a disk to install it. My CP was upgraded to version 3.04 recently, but I dont have much time trying it recently.

Hi Vanhoa,

I've actually bought Windows Vista 64 bit Ultimate and will get Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate because of a promo Microsoft had!

So, I've got to wait on Windows 7 anyway.

I'll ask my friend, he has Windows XP.

Thanks all!

Well, i dont think 64 bits version of Windows 7 works, I think that from MS Windows only 32-bit OS version works.

Hi Vanhoa,

I got OS 3.04 installed.

My friend has Win XP 32 bit, so I downloaded it & installed it.
