UFC is without any doubt the most extensive set of information regarding CASIO calculators in the entire Web, and as it happens, Portuguese students that have math, will most likely own a Casio, (they are cheaper and everyone works with them at schools, teachers recommend them as well).

Both in the Past as now both colleagues of mine or simply strangers approach us in pursuit of information about the wonderful things one can do with one's calc, being games to soften the flow of time of tedious classes, or simply math problems to improve their efficiency at those. However, one of the terrible flaws of the portuguese, as a Latin people, is their ability to learn and speak properly Anglo-Saxon languages (English being the case), and so in the times I was more around (I was absent for a very long period of time) portuguese users would frequently PM me realizing I was Portuguese as well for directions, and personal How To s, because they simply couldn't orient themselves into searching, either due to total lack of English, or simply it was too much information to filter in a foreign language... (it's hard to find something in the forums (asking for help actually is easier than googling)).

If I recall in the UCPF forums there were 1 or 2 topics in portuguese, only for those low level doubts (not really discussion) about how to transfer files bla bla., so I propose given the circumstances, that under the wing of UCF, we are allowed to create and maintain a small zone, in Portuguese, for doubts, comments, help etc. to Portuguese.
Given the fact that this is an International Forum and so forth, and that everyone should be able to read what's posted, I would volunteer myself to translate all posts of value (simple , quickly answered questions or doubts aren't really worth to translate), and anyone else that speaks both Portuguese and English and would volunteer may do so as well.

If you agree with my sugestion of the creation of a Portuguese section here in the forum please "second" it, by posting bellow.
if not, a giant alligator from outer space will come, and devour your head within 15 min. :)

I'm moving the topic to over here.

And yeah, the UCPF has categories for Spanish speakers and Portuguese. But if you read the forum rules of the UCF: http://www.casiocalc...?act=boardrules You must post in English.

Even if your English sucks, at least make the attempt to use some online translator. The cool thing about English, is that even a few words in English can still convey the meaning.

Yes, indeed kucalc, if the rules weren't so clear we would simply post in portuguese and the hell with it... that's why I proposed translation, and a set of measures to ensure fairness "against" the rules.

And by the way moving the topic here is burying the idea :| no one ever comes look at the "bugs\sugestions" zone... you might as well delete the topic. The alligator will be at your house tonight at 11:11 PM, he's coming with friends.

@E_net4: Great! I thought I would get your support :) /:PT-flag: we have to get this into the main forums again

My statement that they don't is based on the fact of if I wasn't looking for my topic, I would have never come here (it was my first time).
If it is so out of line having the portuguese sector then I dissolute my proposal...It's up to the admins as always :)
Edit: Congrats for the 1000 th post Kucalc! :D Cake is in order.

I think the alligator will eat the cake before him. XD

Apart from this off-topicness, please consider that the rules can be changed! And having an organized group of sections for foreign languages is enough to be accepted by these. We find this idea quite useful, and they can enlarge our community.

By the time I am posting the topic has 33 views, statistics rule that there are 250 million portuguese speaking people in 5 billion, so 0.05 * 33 views = 1.65 portuguese people ~=2 people (me and E_net4).
We really need this in the main forum, else we won't get support.

I'm not against you guys, but it's not up to me to add a Portuguese section.

You should try PMing 2072.

It's not as easy as you guys think to add a Portuguese section. Adding a new category, I believe requires some hack to be implemented to detect bots and prevent them from spamming, which would take 2072's time (Hence, I think that's why the UCPF posts are locked and set only to read only) and we're already in the middle of new projects (which reminds me, I need to get to work and finish my project for you guys) to revamp, improve and make the UCF a better place. (Hold on to your seats! :D)

The UCPF posts are locked simply because they were meant to be moved to appropriate categories and sub-forums by the admins/moderators team, once moved to another forum people will be able to answer in those topics. This also implies that maybe new categories and sub-forum may be created... (I may have forgotten to mention that to the admins/moderators team though... :/ )

If you want to create a Portuguese section, you can but you have to make this section rules very clear :
- Only start topics there if you really can't speak English at all.
- no off-topic messages.
- posts made their won't increase your post count (to incite young members to start topic in English :) )
- etc...

The Portuguese moderating team will have to be very watchful and keep the forum clean...

That sounds like a good deal for Portuguese members. :)

As for the UCPF posts, do you want me to sort them out immediately and place them into their appropriate subcategories? I'll do it immediately if you give me the word. I think it would be better if I started moving them as soon as possible.

You can start to move them when you want.

I remember it didn't work for the Spanish forum but I don't remember exactly why.
This new section will be a help center for non English speaking Portuguese members not a Portuguese Casio forum.
