I noticed something while looking at photos of the PC Board. There does not appear to be a ceramic resonator or quartz crystal to stabilize the CPU clock. It would make sense then, that a connected device would provide a data bit-synched clock for I/O. Any home-made interface would (if this is correct) have the ability to use clock pulses exchanged through the interface. This might help explain the apparent lack of support for regular async serial. Maybe. Any thoughts on this?
