Hi, I needed to calculate sigma(Xi-Xbar) [summation of deviation of each x from its mean] as its required in many formulae like mean deviation, covariance, to name a few.

I was just wondering if there is a way to do it in Fx-82es or will I have to just manually calculate it?

Thanks

Well, You can use the formulas for population standard deviation (sigma) or sample standard deviation (s). These formulas contains 3 variables and you know two variables from your calc - number of items and population standard deviation or sample standard deviation. So you are able to calculate the sum of squares.

the sum of squares = sigma^2*n

the sum of squares = s^2*(n-1)
