I am going to be buying an FX-991ES soon, and I was wondering what exactly does the two-way power mode mean; that is, if I remove the battery or it drains completely, will the calculator still work, relying only on the solar panel?
Thank you.

Hey, all.

You will not be able to use the calculator when the battery is dead.
I'm not sure what the two-way power means exactly either. Since the battery in the calculator (LR44) is non-rechargable I guess it reduces the battery drain during operation and in standby. (The memory is wiped if the battery is removed).

That is extremely odd! Doesn't that more or less defeat the purpose of a solar cell? I would have assumed the solar cell would be enough for it to work without a battery inside.
Oh well, I guess keeping the memory's important, too.
