I got my AFX back from the Repair Center. After I got it back from getting the screen fixed I sent it back again because it had ROM 1.00 instead of ROM 1.02. The one I got today is an AFX 2.0+. I think we've talked about it before but what difference does the + make? I see the E-CON application (what is this for anyways?) and the TVM app. Doesnt some software not work on the +? Scorch is the only one I can remember.

There's some software that doesn't work due to lack of memory on the PLUS models.
This can be solved however, with ShineOS or MaxMem or something..
If you got a PLUS back instead of a normal AFX.. don't complaint
It has more and newer software, and vectors and matrices in CAS mode

ShineOS is a project in the french comunity that replaces command.com, it's on sourceforge but can probably be found on the teamg100 site
Maxmem was a tool that Roeoender created, to increase the amount of available memory to programs (at the cost of user memory, and thus losing all your saved data *correct me if I'm wrong*)

yep, MaxMem changes a BIOS variable that limits amount of memory visible to the system and allows to change last MCB (memory control block) size, this will overwrite the beginning of user memory (basic files atc, depeding you memory usage), the walk-around is to use the "backup to flash memory" facility of the calc.
I didn't knew about ShineOS - did anyone from this project managed to upload something to drive A: (bootable)?
It would be really good.

I couldnt find MaxMem on Mohammed's site. Do you have your own site, Roeoender? I would like to read some more about MaxMem. I didnt understand exactly how it works. You lose the ability to save BASIC files in RAM but ADD-INs have access to more RAM? Is that how it works? Thanks for your help everybody.

MAxMem is included in AFXPC package (with RAM disk and ENTER programs).
The readme file explains how it works.
Simply when maxmem is loaded it changes DOS memory stuctures to think that it has more memory.
User memory (for MAT,Lists, Basic programs) is located after DOS (DOS doesn't see user memory, it is handled by the saltire software) so any program that will use memory beyond normal system abilities will eventually overwrite user memory corrupting it.
To mastermage:
Thanks for the link.
It is quite problematic I even tried to fake data so CRC-16 or CRC-32 will match, but still change is detected
Roeoender.
