Is there any way of passing over files directly through a calc<=>calc cable between a texas TI 82 (i think it was something like that) and a CFX ? Or do you have to go through a computer, then retranslate it into "texas basic" or whatever :P and then transfeer?

normally, i'm agaisnt texas by the way :P

I think its not possible, the kind of files are different and i'm sure that the transfer protocol etc.. its different too.

you would probably need to write a translator into a pic chip that could read RS232, convert the Casio Basic into Texas Basic, then re transmit it in what ever data format (RS232?) that the texas used! it would just be easier to use the PC as the translator....

i kinda figured so. But there was this n00b at school today with a texas, so i figured if it might be possible. Off course, i didn't let there be any physical contact between my casio and the texas. That would simply have been outrageous! :P

Thanks for the info!

i am seeing two problems with that, Send( and Recive( can only send a variables contents:

23->A
Send(A)

are you sure the voltage levels of the calcs are the same? you dont want to fry either of them, (except the Texas maybe :lol2: )

i thought there was these few 2-3 reckon bytes the calc sent, and were suppose to get an amount back, as clearification for transmitting. I would have thought these would be in the way for this?

Why are you getting a TI-86? Why not a TI-89? How would it work at the hardware level if you plugged your TI-PC link into a female gender bender and then your Casio-PC cable into the other end?

major problem with using a gendor bender, POWER!!!! i dont know about the TI-PC link, but the casio-PC needs power from the serial port, so if you used a patching gender bender box instead of a plain gender bender, then you could feed powser into the appropriate pins, and link the appropriate pins.
