I bid $9.99 on a CFX-9800G on eBay and won. I wanted one of the color ones to play with so $10 isnt that bad. When I got it, I saw that there was a jagged edge that went all the way around the area above the screen. It appears that the protective cover was somehow removed. On top of that it has a small crack in the screen itself. All this and the seller advertised it as being in "perfect working order". Maybe I will get a newer model.

I was riding the bus the other day and saw a 5th grader playing with a CFX-9850GB+W. As I was getting off I saw one of his classmates with one on top of his books. Perhaps the school is issueing them to its elementary students. This seems a bit odd since in our school system we arent taught to add fractions until 6th grade.

Tough luck, the 9800 isnt such a sweet calc though anyhow... pretty much incompatible with the 9850's .. different screen size, different basic command set, really fat :) ...

my first casio graphing calc was a 9800, bought it about 7-8 years ago... in any case id leave negative feedback though lol

If you're getting another colored one, get the CFX-9970G.
It has the best color screen ever for a CFX, looks as clear as the AFX B&W.
And it has some simple CAS commands.
Only downside is it's unbearable ugly looks.

Ya, I origionally wanted a 9970 or one of those 9850GB+Ws I saw expanded to 64k like the 9970, but those are kind of expensive. I have a TI-89 and AFX so I dont really need a CFX, I just wanted one to play with. I got an email back and he said he would not replace it and that a missing screen cover is considered a "cosmetic blemish". He said I should sell it on ebay myself if I didnt like it. If he doesnt give me a refund I am going to report him. I friend of mine has a 9850GA+ he wants to sell, I might ask him about that. Is the 9970 screen a lot clearer than the 9850s?

Is the 9970 screen a lot clearer than the 9850s?

According to personal experience, yes, a lot clearer.
On the other side, I've seen some horrible 9850s, not all, but some.

i thought that they would all have the same display (for B+W) until i got my AFX. when i now look at my FX, i see how bad the display is.

Are any of you interested in a CFX-9800G with, uh, "slight cosmetic damage"? The seller has stopped talking to me since I gave him a bad review on eBay.

Its ok, I insisted that he pay to have it shipped to him but he refused. I gave him bad feedback and now he wont respond to my emails. I gave the calc to my sister since she doesnt have one. She is taking Trig now and will take Calculus next year so maybe she can use it.

fair enough, i dont think its right that the seller has stopped talking, just because a bad review, they should take it as constructive critasism

My sister came into my room today with the CFX and said "Hey, dont you have a TI-89?". I said "Ya, why?". She said "Can I use it? This Casio calculator really sucks. They have TI-81s at school and this isnt anything like them. I hate it." She went on to explain how it cant graph anything she wants it to and that it doesnt do anything useful. She insisted I give her my TI-89. I said, "Why dont I just show you how to use the calculator I gave you?" Then she got really mad and stormed out of the room mumbling about how she was gonna fail because of this. WTF??? The CFX is a lot like the TI-81 compared to the TI-89. Is TI putting something in the water? My sister is just brain washed by them. Anyone need a CFX in perfect working order?
