I'm having problems figuring out how to solve the slope equation using my casio cfx 9850G. If anyone can give me pointer or two, that would be great. Do I need to download a program?

Thx n advance,

dbrwn

well, you could try to look in the manual ...

anyways:

Go into graph mode, enter the equation in Y1
(I think the itnernational notation is y=mx+n) but don't type M & N but
insert the numbers for them.

No let the calc draw them.

You can nuw use G-Solv and Y-Call to get an Y-Value if you know the X one
and X-Call to get a X-Value if you know the Y-One.

You can also use trace but there you can't enter any value (on the CFX)

I'm assuming he means the reverse of what you said hunh_m... :hammer: to find the equation given two points (well, that's the minimum you need). That would be just a simple algebraic equation, don't have a textbook here but I think it's (Y2-Y1)/(X2-X1) for m and (if needed) using substitution, the y-intercept for c.

That is, given the equation y=mx+c... sorry, I'm can't think of a way to do it without making a program or typing it in the RUN menu just yet.

you can go shift+set up, and then set derivative on. this way, by having a function Y=ax+b or whatever a & b letter names you would use, you could use the trace option, and control the cursor to each point you want on the graph. The calc will always, if derivative=on, show the derivated of ax+b; the a -variable
