Do they have any official announcement on any of their websites?
I don't feel cozy about this, and I have some questions that if you answer it would be great.

So, CASIO was ignoring all the old development years and all the efforts that was made to enable ASM/C programming, not mentioning the amounts of e-mails ignored, the suddenly they make a competition and give prizes. That's sick.

- So, are they providing any SDK for development, or shall competitors use the software and methods that have been developed by users for years?
- Are they going to provide any hardware documentation?
- And what's more, they're asking for a CFX file, bah!

I'm sorry, but I'm very irritated, and would never accept this EXCEPT IN ONLY ONE CASE, and that's if the French community contacted CASIO and they responded to them.

Please if there's a story behind this, explain it here or send me a PM because I and many more are interested to know about this.

*rant over*

Now, thanks to mastermage, he explained the story to me and linked me to it's origin on the GRAPH100 forum.

So I will explain what happened here:
This is all the efforts of Folken, he was the one who contacted CASIO France wanting to make a BASIC games competition, then it was an ASM/C competition, and they accepted his request providing the prizes you see.
Furthermore, they said they had no hardware information.
Trials to contact CASIO USA failed though.
So thanks Folken for your effort and success. :)

My apologies if I attacked this topic, but I just didn't accept the fact that CASIO would do something like this on their own suddenly like that.

Now, final point, who are going to join?
I hate it fails, but it's timing is really bad coinciding with the 2004 UCF Competition, and it's 2 months limited is tight.

Can you postpone it, or at least till the 2004 UCF finishes, and competitors could submit their games to both us and CASIO France?
It would be interesting to compare our judgement to the French CASIO guys. :)

 umm... you all do know i have a direct line (even phone number) to casio USA right? heck, Brian even posts here...

I think moha is right, if this other competition was extended to the lenght of the UCF comp then programs could be subbmitted to both. perhaps we could even find a way to merge them...

anyway, would you all like me to arange something?

@Mohamed: I wanted to said that long long ago I tried to contact CASIO USA (like many others I suppose), and got non answer. So I decided to contact CASIO FRANCE, and they answered they didn't have any information (at least THEY answered).

thats cause the guys that get the e-mails are idiots, the only way to get throught is to get the e-mail of someone above the tech support people. thats what brian gave me, and thus my mail gets through. :)

on the other hand this may have changed now, somebody should try it again.

> Mohamed : Yes, I know it unfortunately. It is true that the dates are over the same period, it is a pity, but there is a restriction on the origin of the program, concour only European. And I think that it should not have much of European here (exept the French) :)
The dates were defined at the time of the first concour, and it is all the more easy to program because the school holidays ago.

Well on, the programs suggested has Casio France could be on the UCF.

Normally, this concour was to be for CP300, but there is no SDK, therefore not asm/c programs.

edit : oops ... i don't see all programs are French :/- Bija

hmmmmmmmmmm ...

I'm not french .. I'm german ...

I'm not frank about this "We like you ASM coding thing"

Before I EVER send something in ASM/C to casio I wan't an official announcement
on their Casio-Europe Homepage that is approved by their mother company
that you do NOT violate any terms with coding and that you do NOT void you
warranty. I own 2 ASM/C calcs from casio and I do NOT want to loose the warranty
over 200 Euros. I think there is sth. foul with it. They only want to know who codes ASM/C on their calcs.

I don't think it's a trick, they would just have to download our programs and pick up our names in the readme files...

I don't doubt the officiality of the
comp but the fact the suddenly they
accept us writing ADD-In software while before
they forbade it and threatened us with
lose of guarante and other things.

Until they accept coding in ASM/C as LEGAL
in an official statement that explains that ASM/C coders
will keep the same rights all other private casio users
have I won't do anything.

If Casio France wants to be repurchased, to give him a chance as much. One loses nothing and all has to gain

Personally, I never heard speak about the history that one would lose the guarante. Is it Casio US ? or other ?
