Posted 21 July 2004 - 05:18 PM

Hello,
after finishing Falcon for the 2003 competition I didn't stop improving it, and now it is almost ready for releasing it.
So I would like ONE person with Algebra FX 2.0 ROM 1.03 or GRAPH 100 ROM 1.03 to test if it works before I do some minor adjustments and update the docs. This person should be familiar with the previous Falcon as docs aren't ready yet.

So who want to test it?

Roeoender.

PS. It is good to include ROM version of you AFX in your profile - some do this and some seem to forgot about it.

ROM memory by definition cannot be changed. AFX 2.0 (no plus) has 4Mb of ROM in which all important stuff is stored, and this data cannot be changed in any way.
Uploading new version of applications to Flash will just hide the ones still contined in ROM.
I don't have the algebra "plus" model and I simply don't remember how it was there. There was some talking about differences between normal and the plus model at the forum - just use the forum's search engine. But I don't remember someone changing "rom version" of the calc and it is obvious to me that 100% change of rom version is not possible, but than again all Rom version have theirs pros and cons, I wanted someone to test the game on ROM 1.03 as it has less system memory available to programs not that it is the best or whatever.

BTW your post is really OFFTOPIC.

Roeoender.

Just can't believe you dont know it.
1. Turn off the calc.
2. Run ZX945 TEST MODE with <span class=F6' /> [Ab/c] [AC/on]
3. Select option ROM - press key <span class=6' />
4. The rom version will be displayed.

Important: To exit the menu without CLEARING MEMORY select option RESET [0] and then press <span class=F6' /> in answet to "reset all memories?" query.

Well I've got ROM 1.01 so if you got the same it won't be necessary for you to test the game.

You probably didn't test the previous version of the game, if you won't have problems with uploading and running the previous one (verbose info in readme.txt as usual, available at file sharing) then definietly yes I'll give you the new one to test.
Sorry but I am not able to give more instructions as I am busy no creating new version

Id of course offer to test, but I have 1.01 so would be of little use... I loved the first one though, cant wait to see what you've done :D

(*throws evil glances at the nay-sayers*)

EDIT:

btw, my personal opinion of games is that if you live for more than a minute the first time you play (and once the action starts of course) then it is too easy and probably not worth playing... but thats me :lol2:. in falcon i must of died 20 times in the first minute just trying to take off, now thats the makings of a great game

The official 2.0 version will be released when at least the base html help files will be ready. I need tests on ROM 1.03 because:
*) I put some new routines that may be hardware (ROM) dependant and I must know if they work right on this calc.
*) The flight.exe is currently 51884 bytes long and must make sure ROM 1.03 will have enough free mem for it.

So please wait a little more, your suggestions will surely be welcome after releasing v 2.0.

1) 1.05 - maybe it is normal for the 2.0 "plus" models? Actually I've never heard about ROM 1.04. Btw do you know someone having ROM 1.02 as it seems that odd ROM versions are more wide spread.
2) What you do to your calc that BOTH of them need to be repaired? I have sent to my calc all kind of nasty things  and I never had to repair it.

So if you'll have any of your ROM1.03 then I'll be happy to give you Falcon to test it.

All versions work on ROM 1.03

In greyscale version the flicker is very important (especially for grey color).

Thanks to both C@siomax and dada66 for trying out the beta.

The flicker on ROM1.03 will be solved when I get access to my friend's ROM1.03 calc (probably after holidays).

The public version of the game will be released when I'll finish the docs (soon).

Thx again,

Here's the listing:<Bija> runmat 1.00
<Bija> stat2 1.11
<Bija> graph 1.00
<Bija> dyna 1.01
<Bija> recur 1.00
<Bija> conics 1.01

<Bija> prog 1.01
<Bija> cas2 2.03
<Bija> finance 1.10
<Bija> diff eq 1.10
<Bija> e con 1.10
<Bija> link 1.04
<Bija> memory 1.02

@Crimson: it is ok, surely 99.5% people dnload & play games without bothering to read the fine manual first ;).

@huhn_m: history.txt problem - well as usually an all-uppercase file on a case sensitive file system pointed by a lowercase link ;). Now corrected.
