Hey! I've bought a TI-83, but without any cable to transmit data to PC... Does anybody know if FA-122 cable will work with it?... Communication port is the same...

Although comunication port is the same (RS 232s), but I think they are completely different in architeture and software. I don't know that if TI has 3 pin jack. But I don't think it will worl.

the unofficial PC <-> Casio cab le might work, as all it is, isa voltage level converter (RS232 <-> TTL/CMOS) so in theory the cable itself would work...

So if I try to connect TI-83 with FA-122, may it cause damage to the calculator???

I thought TI calculators used an I2C interface, not RS-232? I may be wrong.

if their cable plugs into a serial port on the PC, then it will need an RS232 converter, as that is what the serial port uses.

But voltage converter is not everything we need to use same cable for different calcs. I think something else has been forgotten.
