we can not say exactly as long as none of the
somewhat more calc-experienced people here have one
of this models.

We suspect it to be sth. between Classpad and CFX 9850 GB+

Basic programs should be compatible with CFX 9xxx series and
AFX series (partly at least)

No binary programs are yet known to work. There is no possibility to compile them yet ;)

Hello,

You can use all *.cat programs. Use the FA-124 to convert them to the *.g1r format. The SDK, tool that apparently converts .exe to *.g1a is not going to be available until december. Funny enough CASIO still does not support the 9860g.

Hello,
What you want to do is convert a *.cat to a *.g1r, right?

1. Use the Tool menu to choose the model ( ie fx-9850 or algebra fx) because is the model who understant the *.cat.
2. Then hit the open file key. Choose the *.cat file and open it.
3. Select it and use the Tool menu to cenvert it to a *.g1r.
4. Thansfer the *.g1r to your 9860.

That's it.

It works to me at least.

Bye.

Hi guest, this is how you do the conversion:

Suppose you are converting a cat file of 9850 to 9860. Now at FA124, tap on Tool to select model type as [fx7400/cfx-9850 series]. Now tap File-Open to find the cat file you want to convert.

Select the file you want to convert, then tap Tool -Convert then fx9860<->cfx9850, when you tap the mouse FA124 will ask you to enter a name for the file after conversion and when you are done press enter. By default the fiel is stored in your My Document/FA124 folder.

Convert AFX to 9860 is similar as above.

hope you can do it. :)

check out the CFX > Basic section of the File sharing then use FA123 to view the programs, and either type them in manually or transmit using a link cable :)

that calc is quite new.

For now you can only use AFX/CFX Basic Programs.

Simply open them using FA-123/FA-124 and send them
to your calculator.

The f3 "new" is the button that allows you to create a new program, on the calculator.

i suspect you've uploaded them onto the calculator wrong, peraps you put them in to the storage memory?

OX's uploading BASICS
go into FA-124, make sure that the calculator icon is selected (not the green pen and pad)
Go file, open, open the file,
*under the computer sub window, a name of the file will appear,
Ignore it for now.

turn on you calculator, go to the mani menu, press D to enter link mode
press F4(CABL), press F1 to select USB,

connect calculator to PC, press F2 to recieve
on PC press the icon that looks like a calculator conected to a computor screen,
a loadin bar will appear,

when it is finished
click and drag (don't open it) the file name i mentioned on the *ed line,
drag it anywhere onto the words in the calculaor subwindow,
a transfer bar may appear,
click the icon that looks like a calculator conected to a computor screen, again to disconect the the calculator.

remove the cable,
on the calculator you will see a message saying tronfer complete, press exit
go in to the programs menu, highligh the program you want to start, press EXE, to start it.

if there is an error in the program, or if you press AC/on the will be a break or error message,
you will see lots of text, press EXIT, as if you change anything on this text (unless you know what you are doing) you will almost certainly ruin your program.

As to programs in the .g1r format in the file sharing area i have uploaded some programs i made for the Fx-9860G AU, also Sean Tan has converted all his CFX (.cat ) to Fx-9860G (.g1r)

the only diference between the Fx-9860G SD and the Fx-9860G, is that the Fx-9860G SD has a SD slot,
the only diference between the Fx-9860G and the Fx-9860G AU is the the Fx-9860G AU has been slowed down to qualify for use in australian TEE (terdery (university) entrence examinations for yr 11 &12)

I didn't know that. How much faster is the AU model than a CFX?

Also, you should get the admins to add your tutorial to the 'tutorials' topic.

From my experience the FX-9860G series is more than 3 times faster than the CFX series. I have the FX-9860G and also the CFX-9850GB+, and I ran some graphing test on both. In short, the FX-9860G can graph 3-4 graphs in the time the CFX-9850GB+ takes to graph 1. I have reset both calculators before performing the test. For your information I graphed y=log(X^2+1), y=2Xsin(5X+6), y=(1+X)/(X^3-3X-1) and also y=sinXcosX.

There is a correction to what oxinabox said: All 3 FX-9860 series models, FX-9860G, FX-9860G SD and FX-9860G AU have same processing speed and possess the same processor (I do not know what).

The main difference between FX-9860G AU and the other 2 models is the memory size. The FX-9860G and FX-9860G SD have 1.5Mb but the FX-9860G AU is a special Australia model that has 800Kb only. This is to make the model suitable for TEE, SAM, NSW and also IB examination. For the moment it is not possible to get this special FX-9860G AU outside of Australia.

Bu they when you have access to 1.5Mb, why pay few dollar less for the same machien with 800Kb?

    fx-9860 G AU

Posted 17 June 2006 - 07:53 AM

I'm know the speed of FX-9860G, FX-9860G SD is the same,
i believed the Fx-9860G AU is slower, perhaps while they have access to the same amount of ram, the AU places a limet on the speed. {{{I assume you mean memory as in main memory or storage memory, no RAM? cos ram affect the speed plenty)

the reason for buying a fx-9860G AU, is that the other models an't useable in an australian TEE examination, and since most graphics calculators are sold for this purpose, (people who go on to university almost always keep the using the calculator they got for yr 11 and 12)
I think casio has decided not to release the other modle in australia,

thus i bought this one not because i'm cheap, (heh it cost me $AU 5 {or $US10} dollars more than the CFX, and came with about $AU30 worth of cords.) but because The others arn't sold in my country (if they are it is very limeted).

as to speed, well i had a race using a prime-number generating program, I got prime numbers over 1000 when the CFX was getting ones in the four hundereds,
when thinking about this in terms of speed, it must be considered that it takes longer to generate higher prime numbers,
even with out taking that into account, it's easy twice as past, more like 3 or four times,

i think to algorithm for solver is better than the CFX as when it almost never gets a "reset inital values of X" thing

I got same calculator, same problem :(

It used to work but I can't seem to make it work anymore.

It just claims 'not connected' Yet the calcuator detects when the cable has been plugged in to both computer and itself so why isn't my computer doing the same?!

I don't know what to try. I might attempt re-installation as a last resort but even if that works I would like to know a better method or be able to prevent this from occuring again.

Hey I had the same problem, however I fixed it.

When you plug your calculator in it should come up with an "update software," window. Click do it later, and then it comes to "install new hardware." Select the one that is "recommended," and then follow the instructions. This should fix the problem. For more detailed instructions go to here:

I'm not very clear about your question. You need to have your calculator in Link mode with cable as usb and capture:PC. Then you receive. In CASIO FA-124, click the start link with calculator and it will receive files etc. Then your calculator is linked and you can transfer programs.

I had the same issue i think...
it would either say in a small pop-up box, "no more open file", or it would start the fa124 connecting status bar then cancel with a windows default problem box...

what i found the problem was that i had to delete equations out of recursion....
i dont know why but it started worked...

nice forums btw :) spent a while on here trying to find an answer to my above problem :P
