9860 Fa-124 Converting G1m To Cat To Fxi

This message originally gave long message about conversions.
That method can still be read in the tutorials forum.
Since this message was posted a couple of things happened to replace the method originally described:
1) Now available is a version of FA-124 with 9860<=>9850 conversion at:
http://www.casiokingdom.org/
For details see:
http://www.casiocalc...?showtopic=2726
2) Cat2fxi versions 2,3 have some bugs , which means fxi ->cat or g1m won't work.
cat -> fxi works well enough
but going the other way
fxi -> cat doesn't work
because cat2fxi v 2 or 3 don't translate fxi + and - symbols correctly
and puts newline symbols on every line even after display symbols.
I've written Casform: a g1m,txt,ctf,cat,fxi converter to replace cat2fxi.

1-Open FA-124
2-Choose "Tool" drop down menu
3-Choose Model ... Algebra FX
4-Open whatever CAT file u want
5-Choose "Tool" again, then choose "Convert" ... one of the 2 options should be available now, depending on the type of CAT file u have.
6-Now you should find the G1R file in "My Documents\CASIO\FA-124"
NOTE: when u upload the program to the calculator it will go to the Flash, it won't work from there, u have to go to the Memory Manager, then choose F2, then select the program with F1, then press F2 to copy it to the RAM, that's the most annoying thing i have ever seen, now the program should be in the Programs Menu. (Huhn, u could add this note anywhere u want for people to see, or leave it here if u want, thanks all for trying to help me before

and, upon reading your post, immediately went to check the software
but there is no 'Convert' option in the version FA-124
that I got from jeuxcasio.com.
(If anyone can see differently, then tell me.)
The different language versions of FA-124 seem to have different features.
huhn_m, perhaps you could add to the tutorial the fact that other
language versions of FA-124 have a simpler conversion method for cat->g1m
although the ctf and fxi information still stands.

there's nothing more simple than that man, and open CAT files only, these r the only ones to be converted using my method
I'm having the same problem. After I open the *.cat file using FX-124, there is nothing to convert it to a *.g1r file under tools. What should I do?

There is now a version of FA-124 available online which does have the conversion feature:

I never got any problems with converting .g1m to .cat or .fxi
...since I'm the proud owner of a fx-9860G SD and CFX-9850GC PLUS!
Question:
Does the 9860 have the old serial port.
If so, do you know whether FX-Interface and Xchange work with the 9860 ?
However, most people will be thanking you for that converter.
Actually, I've found so many bugs since I posted that message,
that I don't think anyone would have found it much use.
So ...
Version 8:

thanks for this guide, but how can i create a new program in the first place, in FX2.0 mode there's a "NEW" in "FILE" menu, but in the 9860G, there'sn't, which is odd!
EDIT:I have found out how to convert, thanks.

On the program-link CASIO FA-124 Computer window for the fx-9860 series calculator:
To open a new program:
1. In the right Computer window, highlight the Program icon (or any program name under it).
2. In the top CASIO FA-124 Computer window, Left Click the Item button.
3. Options are: "New" & "Open". Click New. Enter: new File Name. Click "OK"
4. Now click on the newly created progream icon to edit it.

However when I run the install I always get:"The Wizard was interrupted before CASIO FA-124 coould be completely installed. You system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time please run set up again."
Its not clear what's interrupting the wizard. Tho I suspected that maybe my files with eActivity ad-ins and calc manuals maybe interfering w/ the directory. If anybody has any ideas or has seen this before please tell me. I bought FX-9860 GII recently and I wanted to install physium on it.

That explains everything OS is 64 bit Vista Home Premium.
Is there any way around this?
