Hi folks.
I work as a Construction Engineer, the Maths part of which involves a large amount of trigonometry.

Most modern Theodolites and E.D.M.s ship with programs to calculate Cartesian and Polar co-ordinates from a selection of stations. Mine does not.

I have acumalated a large number of programs, for my fx 9750G, which suit many of my on site needs however the most needed of them all remains elusive.

This would be a "free station" program, which would allow me to set an E.D.M at any arbitary position, Sight to Two Staitions with known Cartesian Coordinates (Easting and Northing) and by measuring the Distance to 1 and the Angle turned to Sight the 2nd, calculate the relative Cartesian Coordinate of the Instrument and the Bearing to which it is pointing.

If anyone knows of such a program please let me know. As this is currently me -->> :banghead:

If any one would like copies of the progras that i already have, including Re-section, Intersection, Calculations for CHS Columns etc) then drop me a line.

Heres Hoping.

Have to have a look at how I may do that.

Other developments.
Having worked through the 3 basic Triangles (Right Angle, All angles <90, 1 Angle >90) I have discovered that in the latter version, there are 2 solutions for a triangle where 1 angle and 2 sides are known.

I am looking into how to check for this reflex angle and allow for it OR use something other than the Sine Rule to calculate it.
The Cosine Rule

A2 =B2 +C2 -2BC.cos a

This would do if it can be re-arranged to give a solution for B

thare are quite a few triangle programs around to the CFX & AFX, i think brazzuko's is the best, its available on www.crimsoncasio.co.nr under Algebra FX2 > Programs, its called TriSolv, have a look at it and the source should be able to help you, as it also can tell and solve for both of the two solutions.

Well I have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to do.
Re-arranging the cosine rule equation to give a solution to B only ends up as a quadratic equation (or something similar anyway) with the smae two solutions.

Therefore I have bitten the bullet and come up with a program that will do the same thing but requiring the Distance to both points and the angle between. Works perfectly.

Cheers all.

You can try surveying programs from this site

http://www.engineeringsurveyor.com/

The programs are for FX-7400 but 7400 and cfx9750 use the same languange.
