Hello, i have just registered, and i have two questions about the
Casio CFX-9850 GB Plus (Please don't get angry if you think my questions is silly. I'm a newbie here  ).

The question is: Is it possible on anyway to Password Protect the CFX so that you need a password to start it?
Anyway, is it possible to access the calculators ROM?

M. Poupe probably has a way to do it, but to follow in his steps for modifying a CFX might be a bit overwhelming to most

So, then i suposse it's to difficult for, me. But anyway, can you tell me a bit more about what you need to do, then i'll see if it can be done by me (without wrecking my calc :D ). I don't like that other people are messing up my calc when i'm gone just for a minute  .

There is no conventional way to set a power-up password on the calc. The only way to do such a thing would be to dump the ROM data to your computer, modify it, and write it back on to the ROM chip (I think, I don't even know if it is possible, never tried myself). Of course seeing as you would then be forcing the calculator to do things it was never designed to do, there is a possiblity of frying it at any given point. I'm fairly sure it is impossible with that calc.
The AFX series is capable of such things because a person could write an ASM program to just require a certain password to get out of that program, and then the program could be run and the calculator be turned off.

But isn't it possible to write a program (in casio basic) that makes the calc freeze until you type a spesific key-combination (or the reset button). Or is there some way to make the calc ignore the AC button during execution of a program (whitout the need to modify the ROM)?
