I haven't decided on the date yet. I'm still discussing with the sponsor (miniplayer.info). I'm trying to get some more prizes too.

But it will last for about 2 months. That's just an estimate for now.

Excellent, finally a international contest that allows entries of fx-9860 add-ins. Time for me to finish up MLC for the fx-9860 and start programming my game for the contest!

vanhoa, 2 months isn't a very long time. Most people don't have a lot of time to program on their calculators.

I said GAME. So it can be in BASIC, add-in etc. As long as it is a game.

two months i am happy, i first need to learn the sdk better, should take me some time. If it was a shorter period only a few could enter, like kucalc and vanhoa

this will be an incentive for more people to learn the SDK and C, so in fact it makes the world a better place (everyone knows C programmers are nice people)

Yes, that would be true. I only know three people who have written games so far with the SDK: me as in kucalc (Pong, Space Invaders, BoxWorld), vanhoa (Aspirin and Sodoku) and Muelsaco (Snake).

One more question though. The contest is for FX-9860G games, but will I be disqualified if I intentionally make it compatible with other calculators, like the CFX-9850GC+? I don't like limiting my games to one calculator when a few simple steps can be taken to make it work on others. I assume this is allowed, as long as it'll work on the FX-9860G?

I do. I don't know the add-in language.

And I prefer making games based on the character sets... they seem faster than graphic games to me. I guess that means it'll just have to be even better, though >_>;

My main problem is that I often lose interest in the project... usually somewhere halfway through, sometimes even close to the end. Anyway...

...the project I think I'm gonna make is an RPG. I'm hoping to make it compatible with older calculators as well as newer ones, so no FX-specific characters or functions. That's gonna make it a bit more difficult, but I guess it could be done. The hardest parts of an RPG always seem to be making enemies, writing a good story and the damage formula. Damage = Atk - Def is just not good enough... I think I'm gonna borrow from pok?mon there >_>;

I think it?s a bad date. I am just starting to get the hang of making graphic games, but it is going to be hard for me to get any graphic game ready for April. How much does it effect if the game is more text based when it could have been more graphic?

April is just less than 2 months away. I think it is long enough. Some people can't even wait that long.

* Speed
* Gameplay
* Replay Value
* Quality
* Programming Skill
* Originality
* Overall Impression

You mentioned "originality". Does that mean I have to do some 80?s Space Invaders kind of classic game? You say in Casio Kingdom that genre is free.

'Originality' means you get higher points if you make a game that hasn't been created or thought of before.

Any genre is acceptable.

The owner of miniplayer.info has decided to sell her business. This means she will probably NOT provide the Meizu miniplayer as a prize anymore. I'm trying to contact her regarding this, but she is very slow in replying.
I'm sorry if this disappoints you.

However, there is still one prize left: Casio fx-9860G SD supplied by Calculator's Online.

Maybe you could ask the CASIO French community like Planete Casio and Jeuxcasio and see if they can sponsor in the contest and help with the prizes.

Better than none

I'll try to get another prize but I don't think I'll be able to in time. I get better success with Australian stores however they don't ship worldwide. That's why I have more prizes for the Australian competition than the International one.

I apologise again. I didn't expect miniplayer.info to go on sale.
