Hello guys,

Has any of you guys and gals experienced this before? My fx 9860 G is not able to load at all.
Attached below is the screen is displayed when the battery is put in. I've tried to reset the calculator by pressing the 'P' button at the back but it is still the same. Is my calculator dead? :(

Hello abdullahkoh and welcome to the UCF! :D

Have you tried pulling out the batteries for a couple of minutes, then try pressing the P button to reset it? It looks like it's stuck running some BASIC program (infinite loop?). IIRC, pressing the AC power button (or is it EXIT?) will break the program.

Thanks for the warm welcome kucalc!

Yeah,I left batteries out for a day and when I put them back in, I get the same response. I've also pressed the P button only to see the screen clear for the duration of being pressed and back to the picture above. I pressed every button on the keypad to look for a sign but there was none. Can anyone help me? :(

Try downloading a OS update from the internet, run it on your PC and look for the contacts for the emergency OS update (near your batteries), connect your calc to the PC when the OS update tells you to do so, but instead of using the normal "Receive" mode (which you cannot use if your calc really is not responding), take some piece of wire and touch the emergency OS update contacts simultaneously. Your calc should show a message indicating that the emergency OS update is running. Then proceed with the OS update program on your PC.
