Hey guys.

So here is the deal: I got the fx-9860GII for x-mas. I will be taking college pre-calc with trig next quarter. The math department at my school recommends the TI-84 silver for reasons unknown (although I could guess). Is this anything for me to be worried about? My guess is no, and that the only reason they recommend the TI is because they have a contract with them or something. Further, I had a casio scientific calculator that I liked better than my TI scientific calculator. To be honest, it seems that casio gives you more for a cheaper price.

Any other tips for the newb would be appreciated.

Thanks, and sorry if this question(s) has been asked before.

Hello the_dude and welcome to the UCF! :D

The fx-9860GII is comparable to the TI-84. I'm pretty sure the fx-9860GII can do whatever the TI-84 can do. Some consider the fx-9860G to be the best non-CAS out on the market right now.
