I'm about to purchase several calculators. The model that my daughter's school recommends is the FX-9860G AU Plus. In looking around I have found that the FX-9860GII is supposed to be the international equivalent to the AU plus. Yet I have also heard that the OS on them is not the same.

Could someone confirm or otherwise if they are indeed identical apart from their model names, and also include whether the OS or firmware is also the same?

The AU Plus is much dearer to buy than the G II, so if they are indeed the same in every aspect then I will buy the G II.

Thanks in advance.

Andrew

The fx-9860G AU only has 800k of flash memory instead of 1.5m, but several websites report the new fx-9860G AU Plus now has 1.5m as well.
However, you should buy the international version because Casio is currently working on a revised OS 2.00 version for fx-9860G Slim with some features removed for Asian market reasons and this may also be the case for Australian markets.

Thanks for your reply, but I need to look at features and compatibility first. All students in my daughters school will have the AU Plus and I don't want to get the international GII model if it is going to be different and disadvantage her.

Is the FX-9860G AU Plus identical in every way to the FX-9860G II?

It should, but I cannot say this for sure as Casio may still slightly restrict it for Australian markets.
