I am now trying to save (communicate) my fx-9750 calculator program file to my PC (A Windows 7 desktop machine).

As the manual suggests, I downloaded FA-124 users guide, then the FA-124 executable. I then attempted to install Program-Link, it went through the installation paces but an error window (FA-124 Ver 1.0 Setup) appeared stating "Installation Failed".

I checked my desktop and noted that the Casio icon, and the program, are there despite the message. I clicked to launch and Program-Link appears to be intact.

I then connected my fx-9750 through the USB port. The calculator woke up and its screen displayed the status -- Wake up mode ON, USB connection, etc. -- as if it recognizes my calculator.

I then hit F1 on Calculator to transmit. Nothing happened from there.

What am I doing wrong?

This is quite sad, I have a machine with such great features which, it seems, is brilliantly designed. Unfortunately, I can't back up my programs (to my PC).

In the very old days (60's and 70's), my SR-52 and TI-59 both had magnetic strips that contained my precious code. That's some 40+ years ago. Here, I'm at the mercy of taking close-up screen shots with my digital camera, a measly 6 programs lines at a time.

I'm not faulting this forum as it obviously doesn't attract much user traffic. However, my email to Casio on this very topic has gone unanswered for quite a few days.

Win7 64bit: not supported by CASIO, use a VM
Win7 32bit: use at least FA-124 1.02

Hi Guest,

That link proved very encouraging. It confirmed problems with Win 7, both 32 bit (mine) and 64 bit.

Yes, I had found and installed version 1.01. The only place I found 1.02 is at casio.com and it's $29.95.

At that price I think I'll wait a bit to see how serious I want to get about my new toy (I bought it for $20 + $5 shipping).

Thanks very much for your help.

Len

Hi again, Guest -

Wow! What a great link -- and the download works. I'm now able to backup my precious (to me) code to my PC. I haven't been able to display it yet, like to share its logic with others -- screenshots may be my only way yet. I did see something amongst the menus about "bitmap" copies and perhaps that's what I should pursue. That's a minor problem.

For other lurkers, I was finally able to get to the actual download page using these steps.

First, follow Guest's link.
Next, Click guest
then fx-9860g Series
click PC Software checkbox
then Next

Finally, a big thanks to you, Guest.
