    fx-9860gii sd

hi, I just bought a fx-9860gii sd and I am having some trouble navigating and using it.

Is there a way to create a formula where i can input variables, and it will calculate a result?
for example, i want to create an equation in the form;

y=x^3+2x=2, and then input an x value so it gives me the corresponding y value.

do i need to create a program? or can i do this from the RUN-MAT menu?

any help would be much appreciated :)
thanks

I think you can use the EQUA function for that.

Such a job can be done with "CALC" button (single formula) or "FMLA" button (formula library) which is available in some programmable model (4500P(A) 4800P 5500L(A) 5800P) and "FMLA" is only available in 5xxx, some simple scientific models such as fx-991ES has "CALC" button.

For GII models (and other graphing models); no such a facility is provided.

But GII models have Spreadsheet in compensation, so you have an alternative to creating a program (which is an awkward way to get this interactive formula calculation done); instead of inputting a variable, you can change its value and the result changes on the fly. I think that's most convenient. ;)

Must add that cheaper GII models don't have spreadsheet, fx-9750GII can be hacked/upgraded/converted to fx9860GII (w/o back light).

you can use function memory
the fx-9860g have 20 function memory(fn1,fn2,...,fn20)
first you must save your equation in the one of them; see below:
"x^3+2x+2" -> fn1
for input fn1 hit <span class=OPTN' /> <span class=F6' /> <span class=F6' /> <span class=F3' /> (FMEM) <span class=F3' /> (fn) <span class=1' />
for input " hit <span class=Alpha' /> <span class=EXP' />
after save your equation you must input X value(for example 3); see below:
3 -> X
then input fn1 and hit <span class=EXE' /> key; see below:
fn1 [EXE]
after this the corresponding y value will showed.
if this reply solve your problem; reply to this post.
:rolleyes:
