We are not a 24/7 service
If you ask a question on the IRC channel, don't leave right away. The other people on the channel have their own lives too, and just because they are online doesn't mean they are at their keyboard.
Ask your question and include as many significant details as possible, then wait. You can "lurk" the channel by keeping your IRC client up while you do stuff (browse the forum, live life, whatever), just check the scrollback periodically for answers to your question.
