Oh wow I never thought of that.
Even though we don't know if he broke the speed of sound at his altitude, i think he still did break the speed of sound at sea level (mach 1).

Well, not really. He is moving at the same speed as himself, so he could still hear the sounds he made.

Yeah, I guess it's not light.... but any other sounds would be delayed/not heard, right? Like wind?
By the time the atmosphere was thick enough for him to hear wind, he would have been below the speed of sound anyway.

Fun fact: Fighter pilots cannot hear their engines after passing the speed of sound because the engine is located behind them.

Actually Baumgartner could also hear himself falling when he reduced his speed near the ground.
