On the Prizm, which I assume is the same or similar to the 9860, when in the Run Matrix application, you do a shift-Menu to get into 'set up' mode, hit F2 which is the choice called 'line' (F1 is 'Math'). Then exit.
Now back in the Run Matrix mode, type in your function, press the 'option' (OPTN) button, F6 a couple of times till the option called 'funcmem' appears, and then press it. Another menu then appears, and you press the option button labeled 'store'. It will then ask which function memory (from 1 to 20) that you want to use for your new function. Hope that helps...

Do you mean you want to record a function (equation) for future use? Oddly, you can only store, recall (view), and delete functions when the calculator is set to linear display rather than natural textbook display - a fact not mentioned in the user manual! Anyway, do this: Menu> RunMat> EXE> Shift Menu> use the up or down arrows on the replay button to highlight the menu item "Input/Output". Press the F2 button to select Linear. Press the Exit button. Now you will be able to follow the instructions in the software user manual pages 2-8, 2-9. Of course, you can change your calculator back to natural textbook display anytime if you prefer. You just won't be able to use stored functions while in that mode.
