I guess i'm not ready to give up my desktop icons for a new look. Although there is a way to keep both on windows 8 so you just change to the windows 8 or desktop background.
Which ultrabook are you looking to buy?

Without the start menu, it looks weird. There are already 3rd party start menu's out, though.
Generally, as someone who can confuse others by working with the computer very fast (look at my humility ), I find mouse much faster and convenient than touch screen. In my case, with touch screen, I have to jam my index finger while gazing at the screen to make it work. With mouse, you just move your wrist (and at the worst case your forearm) and everything gets done.

Don't you sometimes touch the wrong part of the screen near the part you really wanted to touch, and repeat that again and again?
I hate touch on screen keyboards as well... always touching the wrong key. :-\
