Edit: OK, after further investigation the issue was that the calculator was in Algebra mode not Assistant mode. All good now.

I just tried differentiating on my classpad 2 for the first time and strangely d/dx(x^8)=0. Anyone know what's going on with that?
Edit: OK, after further investigation the issue was that the calculator was in Algebra mode not Assistant mode. All good now.

Please note that even in Algebra mode this should work, unless you have a variable called x on your calc in your "current" folder. If you remove it, you should get your desired result in Algebra mode.
To remove the variables, in Main, either use the Edit > Clear All Variables menu to remove the numeric variabls, or go to
> Variable Manager then enter your "current" folder, select the variable and delete it using the menu.
