Hi,

If you own a ClassPad 300 with a white sticker on the back, please take a look at the inside of the cover of the battery compartment and tell me the numbers printed there.

Some examples:
3M104A 08530
3M105A 22130
3Q11012A

Later ClassPad 300 models got engraved numbers on the back like these:

G430-32 P111243 3Q10923A [Revision 2003-2 with some ICs removed]
G430-41 P008860 5Q10614A [Revision 2004-1 with OS 1.24 preinstalled]

Early models just got the device number (on a white sticker) like this:

A117783 [Appears to be revision 2003-1]

And this number is not very useful as it does not contain a production date. The battery compartment numbers seem to encode the year and month at least, but I need more numbers to confirm this.

Now you might ask: "How can I read the production date?"

Here is a small how-to:

3M105A <- 2003-05
4Q10708A <- 2004-07-08
7Q0510 <- 2007-05-10
362AW1ZMA078163 <- 2011-12
xxxxxYMxxxxxxxx
Year : 2008..2017
Month: 1..9, X, Y, Z

Thanks to some eBay sellers, my conclusion is now as follows:

The battery cover production date does not have to be related to the calculator's production date as Casio may have put old covers in later models.

Bummer.

Oh well, it's even more "dramatic"...
If you think a device number below A150000 means that it is an old ClassPad 300 from 2003, then you might still be wrong as this number overflowed somewhere in 2005 and Casio still produced old PCB revision models back then.
Also, I have a feeling that these sticker variants have been sold only to schools and have never been available in retail stores. Maybe Casio only revised the retail versions and did never change the production process for school versions... who knows. But they included OS update CD-ROMs for the latter.
