[Noob] Some Questions About My 9750Gii
Posted 07 May 2014 - 09:07 PM
1. Are 9860GII Programs compatible with my calculator?
-If not, can you please post some forum links to some 9750 programs/games? All of the threads here are for the 9860
2. Where can I find a tutorital on how to upgrade the memory on my calc?
3. Can I download software and use a mini-USB cable to connect my calc to my PC without buying the PC Connection kit from CASIO?

1. There is a less than legal way of making your calculator run 9860 addins. BASIC programs from pretty much all the modern Casio calculators are more or less cross-compatible though.
2. This is less than legal as well, if you want to do it you will have to Google it or talk to Simon Lothar.
3. Yes. Use FA-124 (available from the Casio site) and you can use any mini USB cable.

If not, any ideas where I can discuss it. I can't find any "9750 to 9860" on any proper-looking casio forums on google within the past month - only youtube-ers who have no idea what they're doing
My 9860GII SD turned up and it's great. Got blocnote and JeuxCasio's CAS running on there, and it all works perfectly!
My friend now wants one, and I mentioned to him that he could get the 9750GII and upgrade it (only after I realized the memory could be upgraded as well), but now I want to just double check this is all do-able/current. I read somewhere that's it's not possible on 9750GII 's that come with newer versions, but I didn't even know they had different versions.
My possible understanding of the situation (half guesswork) is they all share the same OS, just different version numbers, and the 9860 is upgradeable while the 9750 is not (officially). But then that would mean that the 9860GII only started supporting natural display once it reached a certain version, which I don't think is the case, so I'm really not sure.
Once he's got his on the 9860GII OS, will he be able to update it in the future, just as I would with mine?
Sorry if we're not meant to discuss this here :|

What is blocnote? I never heard of it before.
Casio replaced the SH3 processor in the 9860GII and 9750GII with the SH4 (the same processor that the PRIZM and Classpad 400 use) a couple of years ago. The new 9750GII's can still be upgraded, but you need a different OS image. Some addins do not work on the SH4 models because they use SH3-specific commands.
The fx9860GII and fx9750GII both have the same OS, with a couple bytes changed on the fx9750GII. The OS looks for those bytes, and if they are set to a certain value, the OS goes into 9750 mode.
If I recall correctly, Casio discontinued the the fx9860GII SD before the new calculators came out, so you should be OK as far as that goes.
If you need OS images, contact SimonLothar at Casiopeia

Blocnote is a basic text app - it just does reading, but I prefer it to noteview, it doesn't do the "Long Names aren't support yet" and it doesn't wrap text, you can scroll left and right
Comes in handy for exams...

I'll have to try out blocnote
I used to use INSIGHT's hex viewer to read text files, it worked pretty well. In fact, I read a 3kb ebook with it

Shift + 4 opens the catalog, then goto category (F6) and then program command (5) then many commands are there. Isz just increases a variable, Dsz decreases (as far as i can tell ) to use Menu is used like this; Menu "Menu Name","Option 1name",<1st jump location>,"option 2 name",<2nd jump location>"
any tutorial should tell you how to use matrixes (i use mainly lists-simpler and smaller)
EDIT;just saw the date on the Q =( ill leave it up if it helps anyone)
sorry its my first post DONT BULLY MEEEE

transferred without problems to the fx-9860gii-SH-4 (v02.09.0201) calculator, except for some old applications from SH-3. All user programs are transferred from the above-mentioned models to the FX-7400, FX-9750 and FX-9850/9950 series, regardless of the physical condition of the CASIO CEO.
