I think this is important for the forthcomming poll about the new host.
If you choose "None of the above" and want to state you opinion please say that you chose it.

I would love to merge with casiocorner, but I would hate to loose all our posts... Mabey we could try for an independant server then try to find a way to merge without loosing our posts.

I think that the forum should be as universal/independent as it is possible
so I don't want it to be a sub section of CasioCorner site.
I liked the old www.graph100.com site (the orange one) that was universal, admins were anonymous and was mainly for the forum and uploading/downloading files.
Hope that you understand what I mean.
Another ideal sites are the "two big ones": www.ticalc.org, www.hpcalc.org
(only the forums should be accented more)
Roeoender.

ok, I think we have an overwhelming decision to keep the forum independant, now the decision is who can and will host.

not difficult, just there are several people willing and we have to decide which one we feel will best run the forum.

 So this means that I don?t have to worry about the end of this forum right?

Anyway the address will be the same, we have to create new accounts, we will be advised if something is changed?

I think that its better only make the host change, continue with the same files, database and rules, and add some admin (if is necessary), but netforce also has good ideas.

I think that isn't necessary copy all the post to the new forum; we can make some documents(with a lot of details and tips) about the best topics (like how to make a link cable, documents about the AFX's ROM, crimson's casiobasic tutorials...). Some post's are like a chat, question's to some member as "you are still here blabla blah", i think that we dont need this post in the new forum.

Also if it is needed some of us can help to do that, principally to make translations etc...

i'm for Netforce, intergrating into Casio Corner.

A fresh start may serve this forum some good.

Another option:
I've read that the database is only 8mb large, so I could host the UCF beside CasioCorner. No integration, and the same database (so no post losts, member losts, etc.). Because the forum will be on the same server as CasioCorner, it's possible to make some connections, however the forum will stay as a stand-alone forum and a stand-alone community. It won't be a part of CasioCorner, it's just hosted at the same server and there will be later some connections between both.
Please also read the discussion on http://casiocalc.org...t=80.

It is possible to do that, but it needs a lot of people and work. And organization.
E.g.:
1. Each volunteer chooses a topic of his work.
2. He reads carefully all the topics connected directly with his topic.
3. Chooses the valuable posts and accumulates useful informations.
4. If he finds something associated with the other topic, he sends it to its writer.
5. Writes a full work with all informations, including their authors.
6. The work is verified by some members to catch some mistakes.

It's only a sketch, but I can't imagine the other way to make a really useful database.

You're right endi, maybe we can make a poll or something to define the people that should participate in this.

For example I would not help in topics like programming ASM/C because I don't have sufficient knowledge for it. Opposite case is in topics like programming in casiobasic, making Link cables etc...

You want to spend hundrets of hours (dont say it are less!) with reading all topics? You must have too much time.
Why do you deny that the best way is to archive the whole forum where you have a perfect search forum.

I'm realy disappointed by some of you who want to give up our forum!

If we choose for integration it's also possible to preserve this forum as an archive, and to post new messages in the new forum. In this way all the old posts will be preserved, and the new posts will be on the new forum.

Its only a proposal is only, sometimes is difficult to arrive at a forum with a lot of information. Has happened to me that I have made questions about topics that already have treated previously. And you are right huhn_m, we need a lot of guys and free time to make some documents, its more easy copy all the actual topics to the new server.

About documentation:
Yes I think that we have so much knowledge that we can prepare some kind of CASIO FAQ, HP calc have it (more thant 300Kb long), main topics would be (fast list): link cable, communication software, easter eggs/hidden test menus, programing stuff AFX related: general about compilation, how to make small executables, screen memory organization (B&W, grayscale), keyboard info, where to find bits of assembly code, list of other older documents (like fench tutorials)... (and probably many more).
I think that previous posts will be a total mess for a new users, but the older ones may remember where was something useful.
Anyway #1: old posts should be archived someway.
Anyway #2: currently documentation is not as important as new forum.
Roeoender.
---edit---
Anyway #3: we should first hange the host and then the first topic should be about the new quality of Universal Casio Community.

it should stay independend!

a complete restart or a refresh isn't that good as the history has showed us. i have seen 3 refreshs and my opinion is that they weren't so good.
