Hi everyone

 

My fx-82AU PLUS II was sketching out in maths class, probably because I ran with it in my backpack to get there on time. As a result, I thought a quick battery change would fix it, but it doesn't look like that's the case. What I suspect is that my ON button is stuffed somehow, the contacts aren't making contact or whatever. The only way I can diagnose the issue is to remove the PCB from the casing.

 

Problem, I can't figure out how to do that. I know that in the past, on previous PCBs you can see there are attached screws to the PCB, but on my PCB they seem to have been replaced by black plastic things holding them in place (probably to stop people like us from messing with it ), how would I go about removing it (preferably being able to put the PCB back in the calculator afterwards too)

 

My calculator is a fx-82AU+2 as follows but I assume that CASIO would have manufactured it the same for virtually all calculators (regardless of regional equivalents) from the same time period.

The screw holes that appear to be in the PCB were unscrewed when I found it.

I had bought 991+ and 82+a before. It seemes that CASIO only use screws on advanced models(like 991). It only use black plastic to hold the PCB on 82 series. If you don't care about repair guarantee, you can use a tiny knife to remove it. But there's nothing interesting on the other surface of the PCB board.

Oh I see thank you, using this calculator a bit more in the last month or so leads me to believe it's more than a broken ON button - since the calculator does not turn off when in COMP mode but it will when in STAT or VERIFY mode.
