no, it was a general question. when we say BASIC Programs we mean for the AFX and for the CFX, afterall i make programs for the AFX, but i dont see the point in a BASIC programs comp.

I believe the BASIC program voting ended 6 to 3 against. I'd like to add mine, so it comes to 6 to 4! I don't see why we can't just make some programs, I my opinion the CFX is much better at apps anyway, as the speed limitations makes gaming nearly impossible (respect to the programmers that get it done anyway).

Besides, programs would be more usefull to the community, as everybody can play games on his cell or PDA. Programs actually add some usefullness to your calc during exams and schoolwork (greets to casiokingdom!).

And so what if not everybody wants to make a BASIC prog? 4 is enough for a competition isn't it?

I'd like to add mine, so it comes to 6 to 4!

Still not enough, you need three more. :)

The thing I don't understand is, why don't you just make a fabulous program and present it here and get all the cheers?
Must there be a strong reason for the program like winning?

when i make a program, it is beacuse i need one, if you have ever looked at my website, you will find very little games (if any, i think there might be one ASM/C) the rest are programs. having said that you might excpect i would vote in fvour of a program comp, but i didnt. this is because i think that a program should be made for a need, not to win somthing, and try defining "The best program ever" it ould be difficult, as i find a resistor solver brilliant, but genesis wouldnt. a game however, can be difined as brilliant, as there aremore people with the same taste. take tetris for example, that is a brilliant game, it has hours of playability, it is world-popular, and it has been created on so many different systems (AFX, CFX, FX, PC, <{GNULINUX}>, Mac, Gameboy, PS1, PS2) find me a program that is that popular!

phew! i dont normally type essays! ;)

Oh, now you're in a contradiction.
Now, why is there an ASM/C programming competition, how are we going to judge it?
My oh my.

P.S. You consider that an essay? :lol2:

P.S. 2: You have to keep to the English writing rules if you want to remain a mod anymore :crimson: , sentences start with a capital letter, use apostrophes, it's "don't" and not "dont", start new sentences/paragraphs in a new line.
Maybe I and Killer will make a tutorial for written English someday, and will add some wrong written words to the forum filter so it corrects them (I've already added 2, looking at Crimson  ).
And who knows, might add them one day to the "Forum Rules".

What he wrote seems correct to me.

I don't remember if that's you who often write something like "He said that him classpad was messed up" (just an exemple).

You should write "He said that his classpad was messed up".

hmm. we are getting off topic! and as a Brittish citizen, i talk and type like the Brittish do! MS Word puts the capitals in for me!

getting back on topic:

It is easier to judge an asm/c program, as you can look at the code, see the algorithems used, see how the program is constructed. It gives more to look at with a larger language.

Getting off topic again:

You should always use a double space after a full-stop!

double space after full-stop? Why then the whole text is
simply two chars next to the sites border. I don't see a sense in this ...

Hey, we were talking about proper English typing, ask any English typist (like my mum)!

A new sentence should start with a double space, but only after a full-stop.

But when you type a multiple space, IPB changes it to a single space.

yeah, now that i look at the BASIC programming comp. it will be quite hard to judge. and i don't think 4 people is enough.
btw, i made a Venn Diagram program recently. It solves several combinations using algebra. very useful. i will add it to my site one day.
but for now here it is.
http://ck.earthforge.com/venn.CAT

i will also add it to filesharing. :)

why is 4 people not enough?

There is no difference wether they test 10 or 20 programs @4 or 10 people.

Everyone must test EVERY program and give their opinion.

i meant 4 people participating in a BASIC programs comp. i'm not sure what you mean, though.

Sorry! It seemed to me as if you were talking about
judging.

Of course 4 people for a program competition would be enought but
to hold one but the majority decided against.

Anyways how do you want to judge a basic program?
You can't compare an app for withsics with one for chemistry
but in ASM/C i expect REAL applications like
a word processor or such things and THEY are judgeable.
