What Is Nmi Check In The Secret Menu?

In the = + EXP + On/Off menu in OTHERS CHECKS, there is an option called NMI Check. When I clicked on it the screen displayed Please NMI. I couldn't quit...I didn't know what I had to do so I pressed the P button...

Don't play with secret menu options. It would cause memory reset or other bad things.

NMI could be "non-maskable interrupt", some kind of interruptions that cant be ignored.
