I am currently getting ready to enroll in Aerospace engineering (a very hard degree) and I am looking at a couple of calculators. I will probably need to do some integrals, differential equations, derivatives, some crazy graphing, get the idea.... From what I hear CASIO's are faster but TI's have more. Im looking at mostly the CLASSPAD, TI-89T, and VOYAGE. If there are any other good calculators for those things please tell me. Also, are the CLASSPAD and VOYAGE class safe (Do teachers allow them?) Thanks

The classpad has almost no engeneering support at the moment, so I'd stay away from it if thats what your looking for. the Ti Voyage is almost surely not going to be allowed in a class (surely not a test). others that have wanted an engeneering calc have decided on the HP49g+, and from what i hear it sounds like a good choice. :)

Ok, thanks. What about the T-89T compared to the HP49g+?

While the Ti 89T is impressive, from what i understand the HP is better for engeneers... your best bet is to visit a few sites like this one but for the Ti and Hp modles and ask a few questions there. Hp users us a google group that shouldnt be hard to find, and there are plenty of Ti sites with forums.

HP Sites:

TI Sites:

Comparisions:

Ignore any sites that mention the HP49g. Its an obsolete heap of junk in comparision on the 49g+. Also early 49g+'s had a problem with poor quality hardware and missed keypresses. New calculators combined with the just-released new ROM should solve that.
