I don't know if all CPs are like mine, but the flash memory appears to be >5MB...or is it that only 4MB is usable out of this?

Good question. I think approximately 4M is available for user space. I believe that there is a total of 16M of FLASH but 8M is used for the OS (at least 8M right now).

There is also reserved space to save your MCS from RAM when you turn your ClassPad OFF. This takes 512K. This is what makes it possible for you to remove your batteries and later put new ones in and still have all your data. :)

I'm not sure what the other space is used for, but I expect there is at least some space set aside for future improvements in the OS. ;)

did you think about using a USB drive for Classpad ?
:)

I think it,s not impossible !

we will need more user storage in the future ,
for example my Eactivity user free storage finished 6 month ago !

it isn't possible because the ClassPad is not a USB server. It is a USB client. It doesn't provide any power for a USB drive. :(

so you mean that there is no way to have extra storage capacity for classpad ?

Yes, it's call a PC running the Manager. :)

Actually, their is no way to increase the memory of the ClassPad. Of course you could open it up and replace the RAM or Flash chips, but they are soldered in so I wouldn't advise it.

The ClassPad has two storage locations, MCS and Flash. MCS use RAM and is limited to 512K, and there is no way to expand this. This is where variables are stored. Flash is used to store the OS, for eActivities, and for Add-ins. It is also used to save MCS when the ClassPad is turned off, so if the batteries are removed it will remember all your data.
