I've just posted a new thread, which I perhaps shouldnt have. But, could you give me some more info about the new 9860G SD? I just bought it and allthough i've read the manual, I don't know what kind of programs, which I can find on the internet, are suitable for it.
Thanks.

The calc uses Casio Basic languange which is same as the 9850 and AFX. You can use older programs created in 9860. However you must convert the program created using 9850 and AFX using the FA-124 before transferring them into your 9860.
Still no string capability? When will Casio learn?

It's possible the US version doesn't have an SD slot. I'm not sure about this, but I think I remember hearing this. Can anyone verify this?why can't i find any SD slot calc in US?

Well, I'm not sure if I care about the SD slot. I am pretty happy with my CFX-9850GB Plus. It's a good, affordable calculator, and my second favorite among my algebraics. Now, if I had all the functionality of my 9850 and had built in metric conversions, like the 9860... Plus an emulator... Well, let's just say I might have to get one of those 9860s, SD slot or not!

It should arrive on the 9th...
New toy! I think I'll like this calculator.

I might do a full reveiw of this calculator vs the 9850, if anyone is interested. Despite the complaints I mentioned above, I really, really like this calculator. I am very pleased with my purchase.

What features are lacking?I got my FX-9860G (which is the model without the SD slot). Though the calculator lacks two major features shown in the advertising (which we should be used to from the ClassPad) and the link software is a little buggy, this calculator is a -huge- improvement over my CFX-9850GB Plus.

What features are lacking?
The PC emulator is not included. I have read that it should be available in October, but the advertising I saw implies it is available now.
The advertising also says the calculator includes metric conversions. It does not.

could you please do the feature comparison ... maybe I'll buy this calc... I'd be really interrested if it is MLC2 capable. This would be perfect.
I'm sorry... What's MLC2?

This language provides cross platform compatibility between the latest TI, HP and casio calculators and enables programmers to
easily write games ad graphical oriented applications.
Because ist command set targets game design the creation of advanced games has never been as easy as with MLC(2).
The draft pahse of MLC2 is nearly finished and it is expected to go into production at the start of next month.
To get more information about MLC2 visit:
dysfunction.earthforge.com/forum
and see the MLC subforum.

I'd guess that it isn't because it uses a different processor. On the good side, it uses the same SH processor and low level BIOS as the ClassPad. If MLC2 is ported to one of these machines it should then work on both.could you please do the feature comparison ... maybe I'll buy this calc... I'd be really interrested if it is MLC2 capable. It says metric conversions and it doesn't have it??? I'll see if I can't find out why...The PC emulator is not included. I have read that it should be available in October, but the advertising I saw implies it is available now.

Well eventually I'm sure Casio will release an SDK for the FX-9860G. The 9860 uses the same CPU and a similar low level BIOS as both the ClassPad and PocketViewer, but I'm guessing the SDK will probably support C like the PocketViewer.another processor is no problem since MLC2 is already in its first version able to support 3 processors (2 TI and 1 Casio) I hope ...

I was searching around and found this thread...
SoftCalc, you knew all along that the fx-9860 used a SH processor? In the thread: Reverse Assembling 9860, we've been wandering what CPU the fx-9860 was using. I guess people have forgotten about this post and didn't tell us back then. Well, it doesn't matter anymore, we now have an SDK.
BTW, SoftCalc, do you have any more knowledge on the fx-9860 hardware? I'm wandering if you know how to get greyscales and serial communication functions on the fx-9860, since the hardware is similar to the ClassPad.
